Highway Restaurant & Bar in East Hampton is giving back to those on the front-lines of the Coronavirus pandemic by launching an initiative that will provide delicious, high quality meals to those heroic first responders.
“Highway is above all a community-focused and local restaurant,” Kevin Lind, Highway Restaurant & Bar General Manager, shared. “We operate year-round and employ local residents so we wanted to find a way to give back to our community in a time of crisis and to show our gratitude for the heroes who are out there keeping us safe.”
The Hamptons eatery is supporting local EMT’s, Police, and Southampton healthcare workers by inviting the community to champion the heroes by purchasing a meal for our local first responders. Meals are $35 each and they include an appetizer and an entree. Through the initiative, Highway Restaurant & Bar will be issuing and donating meal vouchers that the first responders and healthcare workers can use either now or save for later – as there is no expiration date.
The first 50 vouchers were donated on Tuesday, March 31 and Highway Restaurant & Bar will continue the efforts for the foreseeable future.
“Our community here in the Hamptons has been so great in supporting us and we want to give back,” Lind reflected. “The initiative calls on our beloved patrons to join us in gifting high-quality meals for free to our first responders. It also helps us keep our workers employed and thriving, and our patrons engaged in the community.”
In addition to showing some love to our amazing local first responders and healthcare workers, it will also help Highway Restaurant & Bar with labor costs and keeping their local workers employed.
When placing a take-out order, patrons can donate a First Responder meal, or two, or as many as they would like. Donations can also be made online at www.highwayrestaurant.com, through direct message on Instagram or when picking up take-out orders or receiving delivery.
