Two Sag Harbor Restaurants Raising Funds To Feed Local Healthcare Workers

Both K Pasa and Dockside Bar & Grill have launched fundraising efforts to support their mission of providing meals for East End healthcare workers.

“K Pasa has committed to feeding the nightshift at Stony Brook Hospital,” K Pasa said in an email. “This cost has been absorbed by the restaurant. K Pasa (2 Main Street, Sag Harbor), which is currently offering delivery or take-away from 2 to 8 p.m. – a free toilet roll comes with every order, has established a Feed The Front Line initiative. For $10, you can feed a nurse and for $250, you can feed the entire ICU Unit. To donate, visit www.toasttab.com.

Additionally, K Pasa has established a GoFundMe campaign for its hourly staff.

“On March 16, 2020, we were forced to close the restaurant for dining-in customers for the unforeseeable future, therefore eliminating the roles of hourly employees,” Karla, K Pasa General Manager, explained on the GoFundMe page. “Without any idea how long we’ll be closed, we’re turning to you to help provide hope to our K PASA family. As fellow Sag Harbor locals they are now worried sick on how they will pay their rent, put food on their tables, and look after their own families.”

As of Wednesday, April 8, the GoFundMe has raised $10,600, with 24 people donating. They hope to raise $70,000.

“Please, support today through this gofundme page, with 100% of the collected proceeds being distributed to our hourly service staff to help cover their lost wages,” Karla added. “Stay safe and healthy. Together we can get through this.”

Dockside Bar & Grill (26 Bay Street, Sag Harbor), which is temporarily closed, has launched a Meals for Heroes GoFundMe campaign – with the goal of raising $20,000.

“We hope that you are safe and well in these trying times,” the GoFundMe page said. “As well as expressing concern for us, many of you have reached out to ask how you might support Dockside while we are all ‘sheltering in place.'”

“As we appreciate your support, we also want to support our community in the most effective way possible,” the GoFundMe message continues. “Our plan is to use your donations to prepare & deliver food to our brave caregivers on the frontline. We will begin by coordinating food deliveries to the medical staff and personnel of Southampton Hospital.”

So far, Dockside was nearly a quarter of the way there, raising $4,735 from 33 donors.

“Let’s all translate our concern and gratitude into action,” the Dockside team concluded. “We at Dockside are always grateful to you.”
