Carbo-load For A Great Cause During This Annual Hamptons Spay-ghetti Fundraiser

Instead of its annual in person Spay-ghetti Fundraiser at a Hampton Bays eatery, this year’s Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) Advo-Cats TNR benefit will feature a gift certificate to Scotto’s for a meal, which will include spaghetti, of course, and two meatballs (optional), as well as a side salad, bread, a cupcake from Cathy’s Cupcakes, and two raffle tickets.

“We’re doing things a bit differently this year. Our Annual Spay-ghetti Fundraiser will be held in-house at our Shelter,” relayed Venessa Herdter, SASF Adoptions Manager. “All proceeds still benefit our Advo-Cats TNR (trap/neuter/release) program.”

Spay-ghetti gift certificates can be picked up from Southampton Animal Shelter on Saturday, February 27 or Sunday, February 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The vouchers will be honored until Sunday, March 14. And while you’re at SASF, don’t forget to submit your raffle tickets. There will be 70 awesome baskets up for grabs and raffle winners will be notified on Monday, March 1.

“Our annual Spay-getti Fundraiser raises money for our Advo-cat Program. Advo-cats is our TNR, Trap-Neuter-Release, Program for feral cats in our community. By participating in Spay-ghetti you are enabling us to surgically alter, vaccinate and help control our feral cat communities,” Kate McEntee, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Director of Animal Relations, explained. “TNR is the most effective way of controlling populations of feral cats. Cats that go through TNR programs are healthier to have around and can no longer reproduce. We also help support the feral cats, so if one were to get sick or injured, we can treat and care for them at our facility.”

In addition to the delicious meal and in person raffle at the Shelter, SASF will host a live auction through eBay.

Since it was established, the Advo-Cats TNR Program has spayed and neutered thousands of feral cats. “We assist our community in its efforts to control the local feral cat population by providing a humane Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) services and education. We are the only program in our area and assist 17 townships with our free service,” Tracy McLaren, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Community Relations Coordinator, noted. “Adult feral cats are trapped, neutered/spayed, vaccinated and returned to their colonies unable to reproduce. Kittens are taken in and socialized in foster homes and eventually adopted. They are also altered and vaccinated prior to adoption.”

McLaren continued, “This program is free to the community and we are only able to continue it with help from generous donors, grants and fundraisers. Medical services and foster supplies needed to support this program are necessary and costly. Help us continue our mission and save the feral cats. Spay-ghetti tickets are $40 per person.
