Guild Hall in East Hampton celebrated the 78th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday night with a free community screening. The event began with photos on the red carpet, and guests were encouraged to dress to impress for a chance to win prizes for best use of color, most creative accessorizing, most fashionable couple, best celebrity look-alike, and overall best. The event was hosted by Amy Kirwin, Chief Public Engagement & Impact Officer, and Kayla Matters, Manager of Learning & New Works. Kayla tested the audience with Broadway trivia during the commercial breaks while Amy chimed in with some comic relief. As is customary for hosts, both women made several costume changes throughout the evening, ending in their pajamas, slippers, and therapeutic eye patches.
Guests enjoyed specials from Louise & Howie’s Coffee Bar, including Wölffer Estate bubbly rosé, charcuterie boxes, and petit fours. Ballots were filled out before the show began, and the top prize, the coveted “Phony Award,” went to Randall Hemming, who won in a tiebreaker with Melanie Grisanti by guessing the exact time the simulcast came to a close, at 11:11 PM. Congratulations to all the winners!
