
On Saturday, April 15, at 8 p.m. Bay Street Theater will be showcasing the huge comedic talents of Kendra Cunningham, Bryan McKenna, Chris Roach, and Rich Walker. This will be part of the “Hamptons Comedy Festival,” presented by Long Island Comedy Festival. This show brings top comedians from across New York to the East End this spring and fall of 2023. The comedy scene at Bay Street is one of the best in the whole country. Comedians love the layered seating at Bay Street.
Kendra Cunningham has been named as a comic to watch by Time Out New York. Boston bred and Brooklyn based Ms. Cunningham has been compared to Groucho Marx and Mae West by the UK’s Chortle. Besides being a regular on the New York and Boston comedy scene, she also was a huge hit at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival. The same is true about her sets at The Glasgow Comedy Festival. Ms. Cunningham was also a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival for two years in a row.
After appearing on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Kendra Cunningham gained two spots in the top 100 jokes of the season. She also has a solo show titled, “This Could be You.” The show had an impressive seven-show sold out run at Don’t Tell Mama in New York. Then there were the raves about her debut album, Blonde Logic, that was released in 2016 by Rooftop Comedy. Her second album Less Bitter, More Glitter was released in October 2019, again the critics loved it.
Cunningham released, “Blonde Logic,” in 2017. It is a book/Kindle of comedic essays was released in 2017. She also launched a successful comedy special titled, On My Best Behavior.” It was released by DryBar comedy in 2018.
Also appearing at Bay Street on April 15th will be Bryan McKenna. He is an outstanding stand-up comedian from New York City. He has been seen touring nationally opening for Jim Breuer. In March 2020 Bryan’s first album, Jim Breuer Presents Bryan McKenna: The Fight is Never Over, under the label Virtual Comedy Network debuted at #1 on iTunes. McKenna was a finalist in the Caroline’s on Broadway March Madness Competition, as well as a finalist at The Boston Comedy Festival in 2021. He also has been featured in the LaughYourAshvilleOFF Comedy Festival.
Long island born and raised Chris Roach is a popular comedian/actor. He too will be appearing at Bay Street on April 15th. Chris has toured with comedian Kevin James as his opening act all over the northeast. Roach’s unique sense of humor has garnished huge successes at places such as the Gotham Comedy Club, Comic Strip Live NYC, The Borgata in Atlantic City and The Paramount in Huntington, NY. Most folks love Chris due to his major recurring role of Mott in the hit CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait! One should check out his nearly two million views viral video, “Ronkonkoma!”
The final performer on the Saturday April 15th show is Rich Walker. A loved, long-time veteran of the Long Island comedy scene, Walker is renowned for being a versatile comedian. Besides being voted “1st Place WINNER” of the BEST OF L.I. 2011 & 2012 by the Long Island Press, Rich has also been seen performing on stage with the likes of Ray Romano, Kevin James, Dom Irrera and Johnny Maestro of the band, Brooklyn Bridge. He is hit at top comedy clubs, colleges, venues & benefit events.
The Long Island Comedy Festival is now entering its 17th year and has been the longest running Comedy Festival of its kind across Long Island. The Comedy Festival has been featured at top theater venues in Nassau and Suffolk counties, including Bay Street Theater itself during the fall of 2022. Additional evenings will be held Saturday, September 23, and Saturday, October 21, at 8 p.m.
