Hamptons Handpoured: Capturing the Essence of the East End

HAMPTONS Handpoured: Capturing the Essence of the East End

HAMPTONS Handpoured was created by Hamptons native Brittany Torres in 2015 to combine her love of interior design, wellness, and small business. Each candle is poured in the heart of the Hamptons using only 100% high-quality, clean burning soy, and tells its own story of life on the East End.

HAMPTONS Handpoured candles can be found in retail locations all across the East End from Westhampton to Montauk, as well as farther west on Long Island. These candles make great gifts for the holidays, especially their line of holiday themed scents. Shopping local is something that the Hamptons community is passionate about during the holiday season as the East End comes together to support small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Candles can be purchased online as well as in stores like the popular Hildreth’s Home Goods in Southampton, Flashbacks in Sag Harbor, Roses & Rice in East Quogue, Drifts East in Montauk, and so many other locations across Long Island and the East End. If you have ever wondered what scents are associated with your hometown or favorite location on the East End and want to immerse yourself in them, these uniquely crafted candles allow you to do just that!

Owner, Brittany Torres spoke more about the brand and how the holidays and the Hamptons have inspired different creations in her lines.

What is the HAMPTONS Handpoured brand all about?

BT: We are the Hamptons Local Candle Company! We aim to capture the essence of the East End in our products as well as every candle being poured in the heart of the Hamptons using high quality, natural ingredients.

What are some of the quintessential creations that make up the brand? Do you have any favorites?

BT: A few of my favorites include “PINE BARRENS” which is a bright pine scent different from our “FRESH CUT FIR” or “TUMBLEWEED TUESDAY” candle that is only available at the end of the summer leading into fall as well as “SAG HARBOR CINEMA” which has a touch of “cinnamon for the cinema” :).

What’s your process?

BT: For each product in the East End collection we took from an experience of living out here that evoked a particular scent memory that we have tried to capture in a candle scent. Once we’ve done that we choose a color of label that either goes hand in hand with that particular scent or something more like the East Hampton High School spirit colors used on our “BONAC” label.

How do the holidays impact your creations?

BT: We have created and dialed back a Holiday Collection which consists of three top sellers for us. “HAMPTONS HOLIDAY” (which is a pomegranate Cider), “GLAZED GINGERBREAD”, and our best seller every year “FRESH CUT FIR.”

We offer customization for our retail partners and private orders such as weddings or baby showers while also fulfilling our wholesale orders to small businesses, online sales, and craft markets!

How did you get started with this business and when did you decide to start it?

BT: HAMPTONS Handpoured was founded in 2015, so we are going into our 8th year! It kind of happened organically, not forced or planned at all. It started with the “SOUTHAMPTON” candles because that is where I grew up. I began selling them at a local boutique where I worked “THERAPY LIFE & STYLE” and customers began asking for other towns including “EAST HAMPTON” and “SAG HARBOR.” This is how our Original Village Collection was born.

How much does the East End of Long Island influence your creations? And do you create anything with specific locations in mind?

BT: The East End completely influences our Village Collection as well as when we create custom scents and designs for local businesses or events. We take into consideration the scents of that area as well as anything that is particular to who we are creating for. Our scents allow the customer to take a piece of the Hamptons home with them.

HAMPTONS Handpoured also participates in craft markets throughout the year. What’s unique about craft fair events that you don’t otherwise get to experience in your business?

BT: Craft Fairs are very special and important to us because it is where we can interact with our customers face to face. This is especially true because of how difficult it has become to own a brick-and-mortar location out in the Hamptons. We rely on these markets (as well as our retail partners) to be the face of our brand and give our customers a full experience of our products. We also can get in person feedback on our scents if we are trying something new and customers can meet the actual person who hand pours the candles they take home with them.

Is there anything else you’d like readers to know about HAMPTONS Handpoured?

BT: We would just like to thank all of our local retail partners for sticking with us all these years including “FLASHBACKS” on Main Street in Sag Harbor who has an incredible assortment of our products YEAR-ROUND. They are your local SAG HARBOR source for HAMPTONS Handpoured Candles.

  • @cheatcodes, a multi-platinum Los Angeles-based hit-making producer trio, took over the Hamptons’ most iconic venue, The Surf Lodge, with a high-energy, hands-in-the-air set celebrating their new album, Future Renaissance. The DJ Trio mixed fresh tracks with nostalgic throwbacks, all in their signature EDM, pop, and house style.

The trio–Kevin Ford, Trevor Dahl, and Matthew Russell– delivered hit after hit: “No Promises” with Demi Lovato, “Pretty Girls” with Maggie Lindemann and Cade, “Sex” with Kris Kross Amsterdam. The packed crowd sang every word–one hand holding a drink, the other raised in the air. Strangers quickly became friends as they belted the lyrics “Just be careful, love ain’t simple, promise me, no promises.”

“Renaissance means ‘rebirth,’ and I feel like that’s exactly what this album was for us. We’ve been a group for 10 years now, and we took this music back to our roots. We’ve collaborated with all different types of artists—from Dolly Parton to Trippie Redd to All-American Rejects, the list goes on. So it was nice to go back to a reimagined version of the original sound that most people might know us for.” – Trevor
