When you walk into Harbor Market, you immediately assume that the prices will be ridiculous and that the food will be obnoxious. After all, a place with such a huge kitchen space, a welcome and stylish feel, and a large wood-fired pizza oven in Sag Harbor must be expensive and obnoxious, right?
WRONG.
Harbor Market is your go-to everyday lunch spot in the Hamptons that you never knew was your go-to lunch spot in the Hamptons. It is fabulous, and sandwiches aren’t $20 here, either. For $11.95, you can get an all-natural turkey breast with avocado, bacon, balsamic onion marmalade, and mayonnaise on a French baguette. And it is substantial.
Other items on the menu include a mini pizza for just $6 and an array of sandwiches and prepared foods that are all well-cooked, freshly sourced, and fairly priced.
It’s a bit of a local secret in a way, as many who go there are locals who know the ins and outs of Sag Harbor. The cozy seating area always seems to have one extra spot, even on busy days.
Some of their food is so unique that you can’t help yourself but try it, such as the local grilled corn salad with cherry tomatoes and basil or the orzo salad with feta cheese, roasted peppers and niçoise olives. We were there for lunch and had the turkey sandwich, the Salumi ham sandwich with manchego cheese, baby arugula splashed with EVOO and sherry vinegar, and steamed broccoli with garlic.
It doesn’t end with just sandwiches here, though. There are unique brands of dark chocolate, ice creams, and soups that you can take to go, as well as a full-on espresso machine for any latte or coffee drink that you are in the mood for, including the always fancy turmeric latte.
Harbor Market is definitely in my lunch circle these days, and it’s a must to put into yours.
