The Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the return of its annual winter festival, HarborFrost, which was cancelled in 2021 because of the pandemic. This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, February 5, from 1 to 6 p.m. It will be the eleventh HarborFrost celebration since the event’s inception in 2011.
“HarborFrost is such a great tradition in Sag Harbor so we’re really excited to bring it back for 2022,” Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce President Ellen Dioguardi said. “This year’s event will be held outdoors only, with masking and social distancing recommendations, so the day can be as safe and as fun as possible.”
The highlight of HarborFrost will be a firework display by Grucci, the world-renowned pyrotechnic artists who will light up the winter sky with an extravagant and unique display from the end of Long Wharf.
Leading up to the main event will be an afternoon of ZIMA!, a fun and theatrical scavenger hunt from the Neo-Political Cowgirls, celebrating the poetic nature of the season of cold and darkness. Audiences of all ages will set out on an immersive experience to discover hidden vignettes of wildly costumed story tellers. The adventure takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. Groups will be given a map and sent on their way at 1:00, 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. from the Main and Madison Streets Civil War Memorial. There is a $20 suggested donation per group.
The scavenger hunt will lead participants to Steinbeck Park, where master ice carver Richard Daly of Ice Melodies will put on a performance and carving demonstration from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
New to HarborFrost this year, is an outdoor dance party, presented by the Sag Harbor American Music Festival, and featuring DJ Twilo, in Steinbeck Park from 4 to 5 p.m. From there, across the street at Windmill Beach next to Long Wharf, will be a performance by the Fiery Sensations, a troupe of performance fire dancers whose show will begin as the sun begins to set over the harbor.
“This is a terrific line-up of events, and perfect for a celebration of winter in beautiful Sag Harbor Village,” Dioguardi said. “All our member businesses will be open and ready to serve with great food, drinks, shopping and fun for the whole family.”
