As the old song goes, “It’s all in the game.” Whether you’re playing tennis or the field, there’s only one way to find the love of your life. You gotta be in it to win it. Here are five ways to do just that!
Tennis is such a vibe. I’ve been playing tennis since I was 3 years old at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club! As a tennis lover, former high school varsity tennis captain, and dating coach, you can trust me when it comes to mixing tennis and relationships. Honorable mention to the amazing movies that mix tennis and dating: Challengers, Wimbledon, and Match Point. These are must-sees if you haven’t yet. They might even make for a great date night triple feature! Here are the ways you can meet your match this summer and beyond.
1. Sporting events, of course. Chances are, if someone loves one sport, they love most. The best place to meet men in particular is and has always been a sporting event. And speaking of tennis, the US Open is happening this month! Make sure you get a ticket and make your way over to meet your match asap.
2. Dating apps. These get a bad rep, but the reality is that the apps are amazing at showcasing what people are interested in. If you’re looking for someone interested in tennis, chances are it’ll say that they’re looking for a partner or looking to play more on their dating profile. Some of the best married couples I know have found each other on dating apps.
3. Workout classes. If you haven’t gone to a Barry’s class in the Hamptons yet, you’re not living! There are endless hotties. You will find more at the Barn in Bridgehampton, too! If you are looking for someone who is active and prioritizes fitness, a workout class is the place to be. Get there a little early for some pre-class mingling before the sweating sets in.
4. Join a club. This doesn’t have to be a tennis club, by the way! It could be any club of any kind. And now, more than ever before, there are hundreds of these clubs to choose from. If you join a tennis club, they may match you up with a partner in order to play, therefore doing all the work for you. Another great idea is asking your friends if they have anyone who could give you a lesson. It doesn’t have to be a professional, just someone who is good. My friends have met that way!
5. Bars. Local watering holes are not dead; in fact, they’re very much alive. Especially during the US Open when people gather during this perfect weather season to watch tennis at indoor and outdoor bars around the Hamptons. There are endless bars to choose from. I’d advise you to stick to one in your local neighborhood. That way you may meet a potential new match, and also someone who is local. That’s what we call a win-win!
