Over Thanksgiving weekend, one North Fork museum is helping holiday shoppers avoid the chaos that comes with braving Black Friday pandemonium. On Friday, November 27th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, November 28th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, November 29th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Hallockville Museum Farm is hosting its Country Parlor, showcasing a plethora of handmade gifts, holiday decor and treasures that come in a variety of price points.

“The Country Parlor Show is an ideal alternative to the madness of typical Black Friday sales,” shared Beth Motschenbacher, Assistant Director of Hallockville Museum Farm. “At the Show you can find items that are all handmade locally, so you’re supporting local artisans while finding a one-of-a-kind gift at the same time.”
At the seasonal shopping extravaganza, attendees will have no trouble finding something extra special for all the loved ones on their list. “The Country Parlor Show is set in the historic Naugles Barn, which is transformed for this one weekend only into a winter wonderland – complete with fully-decorated trees and unique displays,” noted Motschenbacher. “The best part is that all of the items are handmade- and you won’t find them anywhere else!”
Many of the goodies will have a retro, nostalgic feel to them. “The Country Parlor Show features holiday and Christmas items that reflect a simpler time and a traditional sensibility, such as rustic Santas, folk art pieces like hand-hooked rugs and woven baskets, carvings and other gifts,” explained Motschenbacher. The one-of-kind finds are the perfect purchases for newlyweds or those looking to start a new tradition. “These are pieces that have been crafted by hand and are truly keepsakes that can be passed down from generation to generation.” Other treasures will include gift baskets of local soaps, ornaments, hand-knit shawls, scarves, mittens and gloves, jewelry and trinkets, vintage glassware and collectible pieces, tree trimmings, handmade holiday decor, and much more.

Throughout the weekend Hallockville Museum Farm will also offer complimentary open house tours of the historic Cichanowicz Farmhouse and Homestead, as well as holiday shopping specials at Miss Ella’s Gift Shop in the Hudson House.
Admission to the Country Parlor Show is free.
