Summer Getaway Beauty Must Haves

Memorial Day weekend means it’s time to start planning that summer getaway – if you haven’t already booked your ideal trip.

“Even when you are off on a getaway make sure you wash your face morning and night,” noted Dr. Debra Jaliman, a world-renowned dermatologist. “In addition, make sure you don’t leave any traces of make up on since it will cause bumps on your face.”

So, if you don’t want to be stuck in an unfamiliar spot searching for a beauty must have, make sure you’re properly prepared with these travel essentials.

Whether you’re spending the day by the pool or beach, when your skin needs a quick refresher, grab I .PEKAR Hungarian Thermal Water Tonik ($88, ildipekar.com). The invigorating tonic contains activated Hungarian Thermal Water – A.K.A. “miracle water” – so you know it’s got to be amazing. Along with detoxifying, purifying, and brightening qualities, it also leaves skin hydrated – which can be difficult to achieve when you’re traveling.

If you’re heading to a seaside getaway, the Pattern by Tiffany Lerman Scene Pouch in Salt Hair Don’t Care ($28, www.patternla.com) is a must. The cute cosmetic pouch that will fit all your beach necessities is water resistant and made from durable poly canvas, and once you’ve left your oasis, that beach scene will have you dreaming of your next vacation.

Does traveling to an exotic locale have you dreading those hard to get rid of under eye bags. Make sure to pack G.M. Collin Anti-Aging Instant Radiance Eye Patches ($50, www.gmcollin.com) to ensure that you look like you’ve gotten a well-rested night of sleep. Put them on when you’re just about at your destination and in just 20 minutes, they’ll provide quick relief.

Plan on wearing a bold lip during your getaway? Make sure your pout is moisturized with Moroccan Magic Magic Organic Lip Balm ($12 to $14, www.moroccanmagicbeauty.com). Infused with nourishing USDA Organic Argan and essential oils, the quickly absorbing and super moisturizing balm is available in peppermint eucalyptus, rose, lemon thyme, and coconut almond.

Nothing is worse than washing your face and looking in the mirror after to find your makeup hasn’t fully washed off. Sea Radiance Gentle Cleanser ($35, searadiance.com) hydrates skin with hyaluronic acid, organic chamomile, ceramides, vitamins and organic aloe vera as it washes away makeup and impurities. So, not only is it way, way better for your skin than those drying bars of soap hotels usually have, it’s great for a hot, hot, hot spot or chilly escape.

Redken’s No Blow Dry ($24, www.jcpenney.com) allows you to embrace your hair’s natural beauty without looking like a hot mess. Available in Airy Cream (for fine hair), Just Right Cream (for medium hair) and Bossy Cream (for coarse hair), all you have to do is apply a dime-sized amount to damp hair, then scrunch, twist or fluff to create your desired look – whether it’s loose beach waves, defined curls or mega volume.

Haven’t hopped on the sheet mask bandwagon yet? Now’s the perfect time. If you’re looking for a dewy glow and some serious hydration, try Miss Spa Coconut Creme Cotton Sheet Mask ($7.99, www.ulta.com). Miss Spa Vitamin C Boost Bubble Peeling Pad ($9.99, www.ulta.com) will leave you with an unmistakable glow thanks to a combination of Vitamin C and AHA that exfoliates, brightens and hydrates. As you’re unpacking, pop on Miss Spa Hot Chocolate Self-Heating Mask ($6.99, www.ulta.com) because it’s got a caffeine boost that will seriously wake up a dull complexion. And, when you’ve had too much fun in the sun, soothe skin with WEI Beauty’s Mask Magic Yu Zhu Dewy Brilliance Sheet Mask ($32, www.weibeauty.com). The mask’s moisture-rich blend of herbs appeases irritation while providing cooling hydration, leaving you with a more even, youthful complexion. And, since they’re all so light and really don’t take up that much space in your suitcase, why not bring a few so you can customize your skincare?

No matter where you’re heading, you simply can’t forget about SPF, and sunscreen has certainly come along way. Not only will Cle de Peau Beaute UV Protective Cream Tinted SPF 50+ ($85, www.cledepeaubeaute.com) protect you from the sun, but the luxurious formula features ingredients that leave skin luminous, and also manages to reduce the look of wrinkles and sagging (who wouldn’t want that?), provide major moisture, and counteract the harmful effects of pollution.

Even after just one dip into the ocean, our lush locks turn into a dry, brittle mess. Don’t let that get in your way of having good vacation hair by using Virtue Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner ($15 each, www.virtuelabs.com), which offers daily repair thanks to the line’s exclusive, multi-patented Alpha Keratin 60kuTM technology.

Created by Claude Dir, master perfumer at Mane, the Natalie Eau De Parfum Purse Roll On, which is available at Whites Apothocary ($25, 18 NY-27A, Southampton, nataliefragrance.com) is an intoxicating ode to the glamorous Natalie Wood, which embraces her adoration of gardenia. The fresh scent is a modern take on a classic.

Organic To Green Deluxe Travel Kit ($72, www.organictogreen.com) features handcrafted beauty products that contain Coconut Oil – one of the hottest ingredients of the moment. This clutch set comes in a cute travel bag and addresses all your beauty concerns – some of which you may not have even thought of, with Coco Oil, Air Eucalyptus Spray, Great Barrier Chap Guard, Arctic Moisturizer, Clean Hand Sanitizer and Rainforest Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub.

If you’re going to be in the sun the majority of the day, the StriVectin Multi-Action Restorative Cream ($95, www.strivectin.com) will reinvigorate your complexion as it addresses the 12 visible signs of aging (fine lines, wrinkles, density, firmness, sagging, texture, dehydration, dullness, discoloration, clarity, resilience and enlarged pores), and, the formula strengths your skin’s moisture barrier, which prevents water loss and locks in essential moisture for maximum hydration.

While you’re relaxing with a sheet mask on, you might as well make sure your strands are super moisturized with the Dessange Professional Hair Luxury Instant Smoothing, Deep Nourishing Mask, available at CVS ($13.99, 38 Pantigo Road, East Hampton, www.cvs.com), which will also detangle and soften locks.

If you’re traveling light, the M-61 Moisture-to-Go, available at Bluemercury ($22, bluemercury.com), is the way to go. The mini travel kit conveniently contains hydrating essentials that covers moisturizing musts from head to toe, and the hand cream, body butter and lip balm set is paraben, gluten and synthetic fragrance-free.

Even after your sunkissed skin starts to fade, fake a bronzed glow way after you’re home with Too Faced’s Snow Bunny Bronzer ($30, www.toofaced.com). The compact includes four stunning shades that you can mix and match for your desired level of glow.

If you like to make your hotel room feel homey, Lucid Candle (www.lucidcandle.com) are amazingly non-melting, smoke-free and ever-lasting – so you won’t have to deal with a half used candle when you’re traveling home. The body of the candle is made up of a reservoir for Lucid Liquid paraffin that can be refilled, while the candle exterior is made from a polymer that keeps its shape.

Sensitive skin? The VMV Armada Face & Body Shield ($37 to $56, www.vmvhypoallergenics.com) is fragrance-free, as well as dye-phthalate-PABA-paraben and preservative-free. The light weight, anti-oxidant cream can be used for indoor, outdoor, or light screen protection against UVB, UVA, visible light and infrared light from the sun and indoor light sources.

Too much fun – we’re looking at your mimosas and fried fantasticness – can leave your face a little puffy. VI Derm Advanced Firming Lotion ($50, viaesthetics.com) lifts, tightens and moisturizes thanks to a powerful yet safe blend of peptides, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid that firms and smooths skin.

Know there will be a time or two when you’ll have to get ready in a jiffy? Be prepared with YUNI Shower Sheets ($15, www.sephora.com). The oversized, super-soft Shower Sheet is pre-moistened, so not only will you feel refreshed as it gently cleanses, but the plant-based aromas will invigorate your senses.

For some major overnight skincare repair, try KARYNG Restructuring Night Cream ($75, karyng.com), which features restorative Sunflower Seed Oil, Watermelon Fruit Extract and Willow Bark Extract. Its many benefits include reducing the appearance of deep and fine lines, increasing elastin, evening skin tone and texture, and 24 hours worth of hydration.

Ensure that enviable glow lasts as long as possibly by exfoliating with Golden Door Hinoki Pacific Salt Body Scrub ($58, www.hsn.com), which contains Dead Sea and ocean salts that exfoliate, cleanse, and detoxify, as well as essential oils, vitamins, minerals, and nourishing oils that moisturize, soothe, and condition.

  • When Jesse Bongiovi launched Hampton Water Wine Co. with his dad, Jon Bon Jovi, in 2018, he helped redefine what modern rosé could look and feel like—sun-soaked, effortless, and rooted in moments shared with the people you love.

Now, with the growth of Lily Pond Group, he’s expanding that vision far beyond the bottle. Influenced by years spent in the Hamptons’ uniquely relaxed and refined culture, Jesse’s approach to brand-building is all about capturing a feeling: the blend of ease, taste, and connection that defines a perfect summer day out East.

With Lily Pond Group’s emerging portfolio—including Hampton Water, Five Springs, and Mezcal Mezul—Jesse is shaping brands that stand for more than just good drinks. They’re grounded in storytelling, authenticity, and community, with the kind of cultural resonance that turns a product into a lifestyle.

Jesse spoke more about how he got started, how the Hamptons informed his approach, and what he sees on the horizon for the next generation of lifestyle brands.

When did you come up with the concept for Hampton Water and decide to move forward with it?

JB: We saw an opportunity to change the narrative around rosé and the idea of “rosé season.” We wanted something sophisticated but still fun and easygoing, something that reflected the lifestyle we love. When we connected with Gérard Bertrand, it all clicked. The quality in the juice matched the story we wanted to tell, and that’s when we knew we had something special.

  • What began as a shared dream between two young farming apprentices has grown into a year-round nonprofit that feeds, teaches, and welcomes thousands of people each season. Today, co-founders Amanda Merrow and Katie Baldwin continue to nurture the land while carrying out their mission to educate and inspire through food and farming.

From securing ownership of their farmland to expanding their programs, opening a year-round market, and welcoming visitors to explore the property, Amber Waves has become an essential piece of the East End’s agricultural and cultural landscape. Amanda and Katie spoke about their journey, the mission that continues to guide them, and the vision behind one of the most meaningful community-driven farms on Long Island.

What core mission drives the farm today, and how has that mission evolved since the beginning?

Amanda & Katie: We met in 2008 while completing a farming apprenticeship at Quail Hill Farm where we both discovered our shared love of farming. By that July, we were already dreaming up ways to continue farming together in Amagansett. When we founded Amber Waves Farm, our vision was to build something greater than ourselves—something that would outlive us. Our original idea, the “Amagansett Wheat Project,” grew out of a daydream to create a “pizza farm,” and our name, Amber Waves, pays homage to grain production—a line from the song “America the Beautiful”. From the beginning, we chose to be a nonprofit because our mission—to teach and connect people through food and farming—has always been at the heart of what we do.
