If you live in the Hamptons, you don’t have to leave home to go on vacation. No, I’m not talking about just going to the beach – that’s proudly part of day-to-day life here. I mean real deal vacation, forget-about-your-work vacation, post-the-room-to-your-story vacation, play-tourist-at-home vacation. No plane needed (although they do offer exclusive helicopter arrival packages) – my weekend escape at Marram Montauk this October was rejuvenating and restorative, everything I needed.
Marram Montauk is entirely constructed and curated to spotlight and frame its real star: the Atlantic Ocean. All rooms are splashed by the soft sounds of waves, wind, and culling sea birds, but do yourself a favor and get the Waterfront Suite—surprisingly affordable in the off-season.
Entering the room was a wash of light; sunbeams glistened and danced to the rhythm of each wave. After 10 minutes, champagne in hand, my date said what we were both thinking: “Marram Montauk in October is our new thing.”
(Please don’t make me say “staycation” in this article.)
Even if you’re living South of the Highway with water views from home, Marram delivers a uniquely Montauk take on resort living. Simultaneously private and connected, the space encourages interactions between guests organically, sharing a view and morning coffee.
Within Montauk itself, Marram is an enclave that is both a part of and apart from the Village. Over the weekend I found myself feeling a thousand miles away when I wanted space, but close to enough to walk back after martinis at Alimentari and nightcaps at Shagwongs.
In the off-season, Marram has such a relaxed and chill vibe. Like Montauk, the drinks are the only thing stiff. There is a deep luxury in relaxation, appreciating the beauty of the ocean with accompanying wellness programming and an unbelievable restaurant right under your nose.
An Auspicious Arrival
I won’t claim that I knew the Aurora Borealis was going to appear in the sky as my date and I drove to our Romance Weekend Package at Marram Montauk. I expect she will read this, so I will give credit where it is due: no, it was not the reflection of brake light on my windshield. It was the Northern Lights. Yes, the Aurora Borealis in East Hampton.
Checking in was easy and exciting to hear about all the wellness programming that was happening throughout our stay. Even during the fall the resort is still resorting. From the moment you arrive Marram Montauk establishes a clean, unfussy, coastal aesthetic.
An Atlantic Ocean Terrace
Can’t imagine there are better views of Montauk than from our room. On the corner, so we had a water view without ever turning my head.
Understated coastal and chic, this is the most beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean I have ever enjoyed from bed. Beyond the bed, the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door egress leads to a generous ocean-side patio with 180-degree panoramic water view. The room had a comfortable King-sized bed, glass-lined shower, and oversized daybed lounge where I took a healthy nap. Moreover, our corner room boasted an additional window of white sandy beach leading into the horizon.
The biggest takeaway was that more than the view, the sounds of the ocean were the most restorative. At Marram Montauk: October is still windows-open weather with the sounds of waves washing ashore, less than 100 feet from the bed.
In the Heart of Montauk
The best thing about staying on the ocean itself is that it’s always there when you get back, so you can finally explore more of Montauk than the beaches.
We rode bikes into town, exploring more of Montauk than we ever get to during the Summer. If you know the Hamptons, then you know that the Fall is its own vibe. Lively and local, especially in Montauk, this time of year is gathering, often over chowder (like the Chowder festival taking place in Montauk that weekend).
Honestly, I just flat-out had fun in Montauk. Putting around on the bikes provided by Marram, watching seabirds flock behind the fishing boats, discussing the best dogs seen around town.
Mostrador Marram – Something for Everyone, Elevated
After five seasons in the Hamptons, Mostrador Marram has earned a cult following. The restaurant hosts a unique concept, open kitchen, and streamlined menu, not as a gimmick but as an intimate and informal experience. Somehow the food was both elevated and comforting – and, healthy. My fish was perfect
I’m easily impressed, so take my date’s word for it. She is a chef and was blown away.
ALL-DAY WELLNESS PROGRAMMING
The planned wellness curriculum offered a rejuvenating rhythm to the day – moments of pause to reflect and enhance awareness of the beauty all around. Happily, I discovered that Marram partners with Diane of Tarot Tauk for much of their wellness curriculum, including yoga and healing bowls. She is a genuine delight, sharing an easy smile along with contemplative insights, whether offering private tarot readings or guided meditations.
Not just for adults, the 5pm S’mores were a treat for everyone and sweet way to unwind before the hotel’s evening quiet hours began.
A Serene Escape at the Edge of the Atlantic
Marram Montauk is an invitation to rediscover simplicity in the most luxurious way. Here, every detail, from the oceanfront views to the thoughtfully designed spaces, feels like an extension of Montauk’s natural beauty. It’s where sophisticated travelers unwind without pretense, soaking in the understated elegance that only the off-season can provide.
Whether indulging at Mostrador, embracing wellness rituals, or just losing track of time to the rhythm of the waves, Marram Montauk transforms a weekend into something memorable, restorative, and meaningful. The perfect blend of coastal chic and unpolished charm, this resort is not just a destination—it’s an experience. And in Montauk, there’s no better time to embrace it than when the crowds fade and the ocean sings just for you.
Clearly chic and elegantly curated with resort essentials, every moment at Marram Montauk is a restoration of the mind and body. The End result is a luxury resort that is uniquely Montauk.
