Stony Hill Stables has been owned and operated by the Hotchkiss family for more than five decades. On Saturday, June 21, 2014, the Stony Hill Stables Foundation is hosting their Annual Benefit Cocktail Party, which will be held on the pastoral grounds of the Amagansett Stables from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Benefit attendees will enjoy a special dressage exhibition with narration, a thrilling pony drill team presentation performed by the remarkable young riders of Stony Hill Stables, and an exciting Dressage Pas de Deux finale performed by Grand Prix riders.
The mission of the not-for-profit organization is to promote excellence in equine sports through riding education and competitive opportunities for children and young adults on the East End. “As both an active member in the equestrian world and local Amagansett resident, it has been my life-long dream to make the equestrian experience more accessible in our community,” said Wick Hotchkiss, the second-generation owner of the Stony Hill Stables and United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Gold Medallist. “The Stony Hill Stables Foundation was created to give back to our community by providing equestrian programs which will facilitate the growth of the sport on the East End.”

Launched in the summer of 2012, Stony Hill Stables is the only stable on Long Island to offer the one-of-a-kind scholarship program. Students have already accumulated ribbons in very prestigious horse shows, like the Sagaponack Horse Show, The Hampton Classic and the famed Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, Florida.
To make the evening more exciting, Stony Hill Stables will also formally introduce their three new well-established trainers, Ashley Lynott (camp director), Katherine Byrd (dressage trainer), and Courtney Miller (head hunter/jumper trainer).
“Having access to horses and ponies is something everyone could benefit from, especially as a child,” said Christy Burns, a member of the Stony Hill Stables Benefit Committee. “Stony Hill Stables Foundation seeks to touch more lives through providing access to their loving community of riders, trainers, ponies and horses that will hopefully someday make dreams come true.”
Stony Hill Stables is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2014 season. Local residents from Montauk, Amagansett, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, Southampton and Westhampton are eligible to apply.
Tickets for the Annual Stony Hill Stables Foundation Benefit are priced at $125 for a single ticket and $200 for a pair.
