LongHouse Reserve To Honor Tod Williams And Billie Tsien At Winter Benefit

On Wednesday, February 15th, East Hampton’s LongHouse Reserve, a non-profit arboretum, art museum, sculpture garden, and educational organization, is hosting its Winter Benefit at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center in Manhattan.

The evening will toast to Obama Presidential Library designing duo Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, who will be introduced by architectural critic, educator and Contributing Editor for Vanity Fair, Paul Goldberger. The celebration will also feature the premiere Larsenworld: Longhouse in East Hampton – a film about LongHouse and its founder Jack Lenor Larsen.

“LongHouse is exceptionally honored to be paying tribute to the architects of The Obama Library at its Winter Benefit,” shared Dianne Benson, LongHouse Reserve President. “The Billie Tsien Tod Williams designed Atrium at Lincoln Center is a proud place to convey the LongHouse Award and to again welcome the eminent critic Paul Goldberger.”

Larsen selected Williams and Tsien as this year’s honorees due to their spectacular portfolio and devotion to the cultural community. Throughout their career, the duo has earned over two dozen awards from the American Institute of Architects, and has also earned several national and international citations. Some of their highly acclaimed projects include the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Logan Center for the Arts in Chicago and the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center – to name a few.

“The large and digitally perfect screen at the Atrium is the perfect place for a private screening of LarsenWorld for our Benefit audience,” added Benson.

Larsenworld: Longhouse in East Hampton was produced by the Checkerboard Film Foundation. The 23 minute film shines a light on the impressive career of LongHouse Reserve founder Jack Lenor Larsen, as well as showcases the triumphs of the LongHouse after Larsen acquired the property in 1975.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by a lively discussion about the honorees, led by Goldberger, and a screening of Larsenworld: Longhouse in East Hampton. After the viewing, patron and sponsor ticket holders will enjoy a festive dinner held in a private residence at the nearby San Remo on Central Park West.

Ticket prices range from $175 to $1,250.
