Beach season may still be a few months away, but Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA), a chapter of the United States Lifeguard Association (USLA), is toasting to the best time of the year and raising awareness for water safety on the East End during a summer kick-off benefit party on Saturday, April 21.
“The annual Hampton Lifeguard Association benefit kicks off the 25th year of the Junior Lifeguard Program and the 46th year for the Lifeguard Program,” said John Ryan, Jr.
Taking place at Westlake Fish House in Montauk, attendees will enjoy music by 3Bs Band, a cash bar, tasty bites and more. The festive affair will also feature an incredible silent and Chinese auction with several impressive items that will range from Instagram worthy travel locales to amazing gift baskets to restaurant gift certificates to luxurious spa treatments, and more.
“The proceeds of the event support the Junior Lifeguard and Nipper programs as well at the Lifeguard Programs,” he noted. HLA’s mission is to “encourage high standards of lifeguarding, promote water safety, encourage the safe use of our water.” The non-profit does so by supporting Lifeguard Training Program and Tournament Competition, Junior Lifeguard Program and Tournament Competition, Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad, East Hampton YMCA Hurricane Swim Club and In-school Swim Programs.
Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $35 per person or $50 a couple. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting Hampton Lifeguard Association committee member Amy Forst at amy@forstconstruction.com. The summer kick-off benefit party will take place from 7 to 11 p.m.
“It’s a great event to kick off the season with tons of great raffle items, food and music, all in an effort to waterproof Long Island’s South Fork,” Ryan added.
