Group For The East End Celebrates More Than 45 Years of Environmental Protection With Annual Swing Into Summer Benefit

Group for the East End (G4EE) is celebrating yet another year of protecting the environment. With more than 45 years of service, Group for the East End is getting closer and closer to their goal of restoring the environment on the East End every year. G4EE’s annual Swing Into Summer Benefit, the organization’s largest fundraising effort, will take place on Saturday, June 15 from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at The Bridge in Bridgehampton. This evening supports Group for the East End’s advocacy, conservation, and education efforts, and celebrates recent achievements.

“For nearly 5 decades, Group for the East End’s donors have understood the natural limits of our fragile East End environment and generously made an investment in our work that has produced some the most progressive land use, land protection and conservation laws in the nation,” shared Group for the East End president Bob DeLuca.

This year’s benefit will be hosted by Stéphane Samuel and Robert M. Rubin of The Bridge. Guests can enjoy cocktails, fresh, local oysters from Little Creek Oyster Company, wines donated by Gabriella Wines, an auction led by Lydia W. Fenet, senior vice president of Christie’s, dinner, with live music by GE Smith and Taylor Barton, and dancing with DJ Biodynamic, not to mention the most spectacular sunset water view on the East End.

“Despite the significant progress we have made however, unceasing pressure for land conversion and development remains a clear and present threat to the future of our region, its drinking and surface waters, its open spaces, its infrastructure, and its shrinking wildlife habitats,” continued DeLuca. “Only through the generous support of our donors can we meet the environmental challenges that lie ahead. We look forward to our annual gala as the primary source of revenue and resources that will help us secure a sustainable future for us and our children.”

Group for the East End protects and restores the environment of eastern Long Island, New York through professional advocacy and education. They inspire people to embrace a conservation ethic and to take action in their local community. The organization was established in Bridgehampton in 1972 to serve as a community advocate for conservation in response to broad-based community concern about the future development of the region.
