It was a night filled with some of the world’s most beloved actors, actresses, models, designers, and public figures. God’s Love We Deliver celebrated its annual Golden Heart Awards with a special spotlight on Hugh Jackman who received the Outstanding Community Service. Additionally, Tony Kushner received the Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement while Jamie Niven received the Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. This year’s Honorary Chairman was Anna Wintour, Vogue‘s Editor-in-Chief. Co-chairs included Michael Kors, Kate Hudson, Blaine Trump, John Idol, Jordan Roth, and Aerin Lauder.
The evening featured a cocktail hour sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka with specialty drinks designed by Dante NYC as well as tastings from iconic New York Restaurants including Katz’s Delicatessen, Murray’s Cheese, Gramercy Tavern, Empellon, Shake Shack and Antica Pesa. Casamigos will also present an exclusive Tequila Bar. Cocktails were followed by dinner and a live auction. The auction was conducted by Lydia Fenet, author of the upcoming book, The Most Powerful Woman in the Room is You.

U.S. Representative Sean Maloney remarked: “We remember all the good work this organization did and to see how it has grown and blossomed into communities is really exciting.”
Fashion icon and designer, Donna Karan, touched on her ideas of the future for fashion and designers. “It’s all about conscious consumerism,” Karan said. “It’s not only dressing, it’s addressing. We can’t just think of fashion as this thing. What is the real meaning of fashion?”
Comedian and author Amber Ruffin addressed being a woman in today’s world and what it means to her. “It’s our time. It’s starting right now,” Ruffin relayed. “People are listening to us. We still have to work like dogs but we have a shot.”
We asked Ruffin what she hopes God’s Love We Deliver will achieve in the coming years. Her answer was bold, but hopeful: “To fix the world! We’re not super far away from doing that and if anyone can do it, it’s Michael Kors. The amount of work this organization has done is incredible. Now that there’s this fire lit, we’re more and more aware of issues. It’s possible for us to hunker down with an organization like this and do a big amount of work.”
Kors, a longtime God’s Love supporter, is no stranger to the Hamptons. In fact, he admitted a secret about his Hamptons must-have every summer. “Unfortunately, my favorite thing to do in the Hamptons is probably testing lobster rolls,” he revealed. “I could go for Duryea’s to the Clam Bar to lunch and keep testing lobster. It’s an addiction. I never do it in New York but I always do it in the Hamptons.”

We asked Kors what he hopes for the future of fashion. He answered, “I think fashion has to become something that people are less embarrassed about. You can care about the world and love fashion. We’ve gotta go carefree and remember that fashion is about making yourself feel good and bringing some joy into the world.”
Last but certainly not least, Australian power couple Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness gracefully walked the red carpet. Jackman who recently turned fifty told us, “Tonight we’re supporting God’s Love We Deliver which emphasizes taking care of people in a really practical way. A lot of people think you need money to help others but you really don’t. I just went down to their facility. There’s young people there helping to clean and cook. There’s so many ways to help.”
“God’s Love We Deliver is all about New Yorkers stepping out helping out other New Yorkers,” Furness added.
God’s Love We Deliver’s mission is to “improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition.” They do so by preparing and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to those who are unable to do so themselves because of their illness.
