Memorial Day Weekend is the start of the summer season in the Hamptons and that means parties galore. Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff knows a thing or two about hosting a fab party, she’s co-chaired three very successful summer events for Southampton Hospital raising millions in the process among many, many others. This weekend she kicked off her summer hosting a wine tasting party for the Southampton Animal Shelter’s summer gala in July, honoring Georgina Bloomberg, at the new Southampton Arts Center.
Jean, decked out in a flora frock by Milly, dished that she’s had to put her summer party hosting on hold a bit as she and husband Martin are renovating and redecorating their Hamptons home. She is looking forward to hosting a soiree at her club and supporting the hospital at the summer party again even though she won’t be chairing the event this year. That honor goes to Laura Lofaro Freeman, who Jean says will do a “simply splendid job.”
In the mix chatting about puppies we spied Dr. Kenneth Mark who gave us the dish on the latest in looking trim, the CoolSculpting laser treatment which will literally freeze away the stubborn final 10 pounds. Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley was being hounded about the village’s newest summer residents, the Kardahian’s, and their Dash pop-up on Jobs Lane. Stylish as ever Joy Marks sported a vibrant chartruse dress while husband Leif Brinslimark remarked about the old Parrish Art Museum and how he missed it being in the Village. And what’s a party without a reality TV personality, “Real Housewives of New York City” stars Reid Drescher and Aviva Drescher were on the scene kissing puppies, perhaps they brought one home.
