The property, priced at below market value, could not be replicated at this price if built today – so what are you waiting for?
Hamptons.com spoke to Saunders broker Aimee Fitzpatrick Martin, the listing agent for the property, about what makes this property so special.
Can you tell us something about the location of the home, its setting?
Real estate is all about “location, location, location” and 7 Cross Road in Remsenburg truly has one of the most spectacular waterfront locations I’ve ever seen in my real estate career.

How would you describe the quality of the construction?
I’ve had builders look at the house and they all tell me the house is built like a fortress. It took more than two years to construct the house. It has monster footings of re-barred and poured concrete and there are steel cross beams and steel columns on all supporting structures. There is also approximately 15,000 square feet of Cambridge stone at the front entrance, pool area and balconies. The interior floors are concrete overlaid with Turkish tumbled marble throughout. The list of high-end amenities and construction goes on and on.
What are some of the best things about the home, and the location? The most important things you want potential buyers to know?
I’ve done the math. At $7.495 million, you simply could not replicate this property at this price. If you picked it up and moved it to another location East of the Shinnecock Canal, you’d be looking at a price tag of at least $20 million. It truly feels like you’re at a luxury waterside resort when you’re outside at night with the pool lit up and the outdoor music is playing. It offers 2.7 private acres, spectacular views across Moriches Bay to Dune Road, 170 ft. of new bulkheading, a dock, small sandy beach, a separate carriage house, and 7 garage bays so car enthusiasts will love it. And the sunsets? Well, they’re priceless.
This home is on the water – what are the views like? Is there a beach? A dock?
With 170 feet of bulkheaded water frontage on Moriches Bay, the view spans across to Dune Road and provides easy access to Moriches Inlet if a boater wanted to get out to the ocean for deep sea fishing. The property offers a dock and even has a small sandy beach. The property faces southwest so the sunsets are jaw-droppingly beautiful!
What makes the home special, not like all the rest?
With its privacy and luxurious amenities, the property truly has a resort-like feel especially when you’re sitting by the pool at night with all the outside lights on and the outdoor music playing.
What is the Remsenburg area like? What’s great about living there?
Remsenburg is a hidden gem waiting to be fully discovered by Hamptons buyers. Known for its beautiful waterfront homes, a blue-ribbon elementary school and its easy commute from New York City, buyers can find amazing real estate values in this little hamlet.
Sometimes referred to as the “First Hampton,” Remsenburg’s “Main Street” is South Country Road, a bucolic winding road without a single stoplight, dotted with historic homes, picket fences and elegant hedges. The tiny hamlet’s population hovers around 2,000 residents and dates back to the 1740s when cattle farmers settled here. Driving along South Country Road you’ll see the tiny Post Office, a gathering spot for trading gossip and catching up with friends and neighbors. The Remsenburg Association, housed in a former private school, is dedicated to the preservation of the hamlet’s unique character and hosts wonderful art shows in the warmer months. Off the tree-lined streets south of South Country Road there’s an abundance of waterfront homes on Moriches Bay with views spanning across to Dune Road.
During the twentieth century, Remsenburg’s most famous resident was the English writer P.G. Wodehouse, known for writing about the escapades of Bertie Wooster and his manservant, Jeeves, from a home on Basket Neck Lane. Other residents of note include the songwriter Frank Loesser, who wrote for Broadway shows including Guys and Dolls; Marvel Comics editor Stan Lee; Sandy Becker, a New York children’s television host, and Dave Garroway, the original host of NBC’s “The Today Show.” Historic photos from the 1940s even show director Alfred Hitchcock posing in front of a South Country Road home. Today, many corporate executives, doctors, lawyers, artists and writers call it home.
