Hip Hop In The Hamptons

The 4th of July 2014 had a hurricane scare and big time rains on Friday that only let everyone appreciate the best weather of Saturday and Sunday! And boy was it busy! Restaurants were busy as “suave private Jets and helicopters” were ferrying in the very special while the rest of us crawled in the traffic.

In East Hampton, shop owners and employee’s were still buzzing about how cute is was to see Jay-Z and Beyonce walking around East Hampton Village with daughter Blue Ivy. The tiny tot, a mere two-years-old, befriended a three-year-old somewhere near Eastman Lane. Blue Ivy’s mommy and daddy came by to meet the youngster and by all reports were, “so sweet and genuine.” Nice! Jay-Z and Bey live in their $25M Further Lane estate down the road from Jerry Seinfeld.

Sean Combs (a.k.a. Puff Daddy, Diddy, P.Diddy) for years threw an infamous White Party, all guests had to wear white down to their knickers, at his Hedge Bank Drive mansion overlooking Gardiner’s Bay. That party was a who’s who party extraordinaire. I always admire the home up high on Hedges Wall with its big bluff staircase while I am sailing by.

Jennifer Lopez (a.k.a. J-Lo and Jenny from the Block) lives in Water Mill with her twins, Max and Emme, in a comfortable home that she reportedly picked up for $9,995,000.00, LOL, not quite $10M! She used to hang in Comb’s Hedge Bank Drive home years back.

Perhaps Kanye West may get hyped up on Hamptons Hip Hop fever too. His wife, Kim Kardashian, is in Southampton and getting raves about how nice she has been. In the last week she and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe posed for a Facebook post with Southampton Mayor Mark Epley and his daughter. (Thought the Mayor was not a fan of the camera crews or the famous clan, hmm.) And, in a true symbol of Hamptons acceptance, the Kardashian clan staged a photograph with Hamptons sweethearts Christie Brinkley and Katie Couric. In fact, Facebook selfies are popping up with various combinations of Kardashians and locals. No reports on the sales figures at “Dash,” the Southampton Kardashian boutique, but everyday selfies are being shot there by the hundreds.

Under totally cute: A very pregnant Scarlett Johansson took time from settling in her new Springs home to treat her fiancé, Romain Dauriac, to a birthday meal at Indian Wells Tavern in Amagansett.
