Hamptons-Based Technology-Driven Real Estate Platform Closes Deal That Preserves Over 80 Acres Of East End Woodlands

Compass, a technology-driven real estate platform, has successfully facilitated the East End’s largest land acquisition in over a decade, according to public record. 30 Old Country Road in East Quogue, a property located within the Town of Southampton Aquifer Protection Overlay District and the Suffolk Special Groundwater Protection Area, was recently purchased by the Town of Southampton – via funding from the Town’s Community Preservation Fund – from Lar Sal Realty.

“An opportunity to preserve one of the largest tracts of land in the Town of Southampton is really satisfying,” shared Compass agent Scott A. Strough, who brokered the deal alongside Compass agent Christian Lipp.

“Both groundwater protection and the conservation of natural resources and habitat were the drivers of this deal,” Lipp explained. “The sellers are happy that they can be part of something that will have a positive impact on future generations.”

The East End’s high home and land prices have made it challenging to protect the area’s undeveloped acreage. The Community Preservation Fund has preserved over 3,000 acres of vacant parcels and raised more than $1 billion for preservation and stewardship programs since its inception in 1999.

“Groundwater protection is priceless and hopefully we can make a difference with this sale,” added Strough.
