You can expect to see a lot more of A Series of Unfortunate Events star Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka in the Hamptons. The couple who frequent the East End often – Patrick Harris recently attended manager and producer Jason Weinberg’s star studded Presidents Day weekend birthday bash at The Palm restaurant in East Hampton that also brought out Naomi Watts, Uma Thurman, Diane Kruger and Hamilton’s Renee Elise Goldsberry – purchased 400 Hands Creek Road in East Hampton, a property that was once owned by Grove Street Press publisher Barney Rosset, whose memoir, Rosset: My Life in Publishing and How I Fought Censorship, was published last summer by OR Books.

While the asking price was $6.495 million, the couple nabbed the property for $5.5 million. The listing broker was William Stoecker at Town & Country Real Estate.

Rosset, who was known for publishing controversial books such as D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Henry Miller’s Tropic of Cancer and The Autobiography of Malcolm X, passed away in 2012. He resided at the spacious 13.5-acre property for nearly 10 years until 1993.
Once its new owners took over in the early 90s, they embarked on a seven year renovation, which included renovating a barn on the property that now serves as the double-height living room for the four-bedroom home. The improvements also included adding another 4,000 square feet of living space – making the sprawling abode approximately 5,500 finished square feet. The property, which is situated adjacent to 10 acres of town-owned reserve land and just two miles north of East Hampton Village, boasts a French chef’s kitchen, four fireplaces, a wine cellar, a swimming pool, pool house, tennis court, separate garage, and a rooftop hot tub that will really impress guests. The shingle-style exterior is complimented by lush, expansive gardens that Patrick Harris and Burtka’s precious twins, Harper and Gideon, will no doubt enjoy exploring.

Back in 2015, the How I Met Your Mother star shared a cute family photo after a day of fun in the sun, captioning the Instagram post: “We went clamming on the shores of East Hampton! Such fun, scored a bucketload.” Now, Patrick Harris and Burtka can take Harper and Gideon on an exciting seaside adventure anytime.
