Sag Harbor Artist Donates Art Installation To The Retreat’s East Hampton Office

“We are so grateful to Barbara for approaching us with this idea a few months ago,” expressed Loretta K. Davis, Executive Director at The Retreat. “The work is incredible and it provides such a positive and uplifting feeling when you walk in our door.”

Inspired by her participation in East End Arts’ JumpstART program, Barbara Maslen, a Sag Harbor-based artist, recently created and painted an art installation that will be featured at The Retreat’s office in East Hampton.

Consisting of hand painted wooden squares, the piece features imagery painted with colorful, bold pictures, inspired by the East End’s gorgeous landscapes and farmland. Maslen also took inspiration from The Retreat’s philosophy of bringing hope and rebirth to the lives of the people they touch.

“Through my Project: ART4ALL2C, my mission is to bring big, bright, original art to otherwise neglected spaces to energize the space, engage the viewer and bring beauty and joy to people going about their everyday lives,” shared Maslen.

The artist’s large-scale custom murals are hand painted on site. Her mural commissions include both residential and commercial hospitality and healthcare installations like East Main Street in Riverhead, Peconic Bay Medical Center, the two Riverhead branches of Suffolk County National Bank, The East End Pediatrics in East Hampton and the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach.
