Artist Karyn Mannix is adding her stamp to the Hamptons art scene with the debut of The Mannix Studio of Art aka The Studio. Located in East Hampton, the new venue will offer the opportunity for artists of all ages to be taught by a group of distinguished working art professionals.
“The reason I started this was to try to bring the arts back to where it belongs, the East End,” explained Mannix. “This is an arts community. Always was and always should be.”

Mannix hopes to cultivate and spark participants’ creative flow during each class. “The workshops will include and extend beyond the Visual Arts,” she added. “There will be workshops in sewing, writing, music, magic, circus arts, and more.” Thanks to the intimate size of the lessons, attendees will receive individual guidance and critiques. “All of the instructors are being hand-picked and all are experts in their genre,” she noted. “The Studio will also offer Art Experiences that will go beyond the formal workshops.” So far The Studio’s schedule includes an “Art of the Masters” and “3D Sculpture” for children and “Figure Drawing” Workshops for adults. But Mannix says you can expect Circus Arts, Cartooning, Sewing, Writing, Photography, Sculpture, Magic, Guitar workshops and so much more in the future. For an even more personalized experience, guests can create their own art class with a group of friends or take a private lesson. “For the Budding Bansky age group (six-13) there will be a variety of workshops and even one where the instructor is a dog,” Mannix noted. “For the adults, there will be themed Drawing Workshops First Thursdays: In the Round, that begin on the first Thursday in May. Plus many more.” The Studio will also include a small exhibition space and can be rented out for a small art event, lecture, or performance. “So, it is easy to say that all students, of all ages (six to 96 and older) should expect the unexpected,” she said.

For those looking to fine-tune their skills, Mannix is adding an incentive to sign up for classes early as sessions held on Saturday, March 26th are half off. “The only way The Studio will be able to stay up and running is if people attend the workshops,” added Mannix. “There is so much being offered I am not a miracle worker. All I can do is try, and lend a hand or a paintbrush…..whatever it takes.” She is also offering an adult workshop discount and baker’s dozen when you purchase 12 children’s Saturday art classes, you get the 13th for free.
A Grand Opening, which coincides with the opening of “The Golden Age of Rock’nRoll” featuring works by Chris Foster, David Gamble, Jack Mitchell, and more, will take place on Saturday, May 28th. “The Golden Age of Rock’nRoll” will be on display at The Studio through July.
