Calling all teenagers! If you’re looking to get more involved in your community and are passionate about the arts, here’s your chance!
Guild Hall in East Hampton is providing ten local teenagers, that are 14-years-old to 18-years-old, with the opportunity to work for pay as content producers, curators, and programmers. The newly launched Guild Hall Teen Arts Council (GHTAC) gives students the chance to create programming, such as play readings, fashion shows, battles of the bands, and movie nights, that all appeal to the teen audience while gaining work experience. Applications for GHTAC membership are now available through Tuesday, January 31st.
“The Teen Arts Council (TAC) format is a proven national model for encouraging teens to engage with arts and cultural institutions,” remarked Andrea Grover, Executive Director of Guild Hall. “The program is designed as an exchange between staff and the Council, and places value on what teenagers can teach us about their generation.”
The GHTAC will meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., between Tuesday, March 7th and Tuesday, June 6th at Guild Hall with Corey Jane Cardoso, Teen Arts Council Coordinator. Council members must attend all meetings, participate in programs generated by the group, and volunteer at one or more Guild Hall events or programs – for a few hours a week. Weekends may be included in this time expectation.

“Guild Hall staff will be involved in mentorship and training of TAC members, but I am personally enthused about what programs the TAC will generate on their own – I imagine it will provide an infusion of new ideas,” shared Grover.
The Guild Hall Teen Arts Council was inspired by the tremendously successful Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council, which was the prototype for Teen Arts Councils nationwide.
“We, as an institution, can benefit from the energy, insights, and points of view of our local teens,” she added. “Nurturing young people is nurturing our future, and it is mandatory if we want the arts to survive and thrive here on the East End.”
