Southampton Arts Center is presenting several exciting opportunities for kids this winter break. The wide variety of programs will be offered from Tuesday, February 21st to Friday, February 24th. Workshops will feature an art + science mas-hup with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County Marine Program, daily art classes with artist Carolyn Muncao, and a puppetry camp directed by Liz Joyce.
“Southampton Arts Center has made it a priority to offer a wide variety of programs for all ages, and we are pleased to work with these wonderful partners to provide artistic and educational activities for children during the mid-winter break,” shared Southampton Arts Center Director of Programs, Amy Kirwin.

Puppet Making & Puppeteering is open to ages 4 to 7-years-old, and will take place Tuesday, February 21st to Friday, February 24th, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is a truly unique opportunity for kids to learn the mechanics in puppetry and master making their own. The class will culminate with a puppet show with the new creations by kids. The cost of this program is $200 for all four sessions offered, and advanced registration is preferred.
Art + Science: Winter Vacation Workshops with Cornell Cooperative Extension is for ages 3 to 7-years-old, and will run Tuesday, February 21st through Friday, February 24th, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the complimentary sessions, art instructor Carolyn Munaco and Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Marine Educator Rachel Neville will intertwine science and art. Kids must be accompanied by an adult to attend this workshop.
Muncao will also lead Winter Vacation Workshop: Art Classes with Carolyn Munaco, art classes for ages 8 to 12-years-old from Tuesday, February 21st through Friday, February 24th, from 1 to 3 p.m. Each day will feature a different theme – such as humpback whale acrylic painting and clay whale sculpture or multi-medium animal collage – and a variety of mediums will be used. Classes are $25 per session and the cost of materials are included in the registration fee.

This series is a great opportunity to engage your child in an artistic and informative session, allowing them to learn about science and express their creative sides.
Participants may sign up for the entire workshop, or pick and choose which days they attend. “Whether committing to one week or one day, the schedule is conveniently flexible for everyone’s busy lifestyles,” she added.
