Romany Kramoris Gallery To Welcome Works By Isabel Pavão, Herbert August, And Casey Chalem Anderson

Sag Harbor’s Romany Kramoris Gallery will present the esteemed and varied works of Isabel Pavão, Herbert August, and Casey Chalem Anderson in an exhibit running from Thursday, June 16th to Thursday, July 7th.

Portuguese artist Isabel Pavão extracts from her cultural background to find conceptual and dimensional tones in her art. “Impressions series represents the most recent phase of my work, but integrates in it, as usual, intimations of my past work, enduring patterns of inner experience and conceptual processes as a continuous work in progress being a reflection on the ‘act of painting,'” she explained. Like the work of contemporary artists August and Anderson, Pavão readily draws upon nuances in nature to develop in her art. “Visually the main source of inspiration derives from nature: roses and sea, referring to my autobiographical surroundings, the garden, the sea shore and swimming in the sea,” she added. “The visual materiality belonging to this series is intimately related in its conceptual process and representations to the physicality of repetition/overlapping marks to conjure patterns of new images digitally reworked and reimpressed on canvas from my own paintings, and then painted and drawn again showing an interplay of transition between organic forms, geometric structures and colors.”

Similar to Pavão, Hamptons native, Herbert August references nature in his mostly abstract artwork. August says he primarily relies on color, shape and texture to “express the emotion of the work.”

Chalem Anderson, a New York and Sag Harbor resident, explores the East End’s picturesque coastal landscape with her brush. Much like the stereotypical Hamptons’ interior design aesthetic, Anderson’s “spare, clean style exudes spaciousness, giving viewers air to breathe.”

The work of all three artists rightfully “instill a peaceful and expansive sensation” through their application of geometric and poignant elements.

A reception will be held in honor of the artists on Saturday, June 18th from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Sag Harbor-based gallery.
