Montauk Library will unveil Natural Abstractions + Landscape Loves, a solo photographic exhibition by award-winning journalist and photographer Dawn Watson, on Friday, March 24th, with an opening reception taking place from 6 to 8 p.m.
Watson, who contributes to several East End, national and international publications on the arts, culture, lifestyle and real estate, including Hamptons.com, has curated a spectacular collection of her beloved local landscapes, but, the spring art show will also feature a composition that Watson doesn’t typically highlight.
“The show is a bit of a departure for me in that I’ve added several abstract photographic pieces to the mix of my favorite East End landscapes,” she noted. “So, while there are plenty of beach scenes and a couple of familiar locales in this exhibit, there are also a handful of natural images that dig a bit deeper.”
For the photographer, inspiration is incredibly easily to find all across the Hamptons. “It’s no secret that I am smitten by our beautiful landscape; I am grateful to be able to live here every single day,” shared Watson. “I’m particularly obsessed with the water, especially the seemingly disparate nature of its calming influence and the pull of its powerful energy.”
