Just like the weather, the Hamptons art gallery scene is heating up over Memorial Day weekend.
Southampton Artists Association’s (SAA) annual Memorial Day Art Show will debut at the Levitas Center for the Arts at the Southampton Cultural Center (25 Pond Lane, Southampton, southamptonartists.org) on Wednesday, May 24 and remain on view through Sunday, June 4. An opening reception for SAA’s Memorial Day Art Show will take place on Friday, May 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. and a closing reception will take place on Saturday, June 3 from 4 to 6 pm.
The Springs Improvement Society’s Members Art Show will be on view at Ashawagh Hall (780 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, ashawagh-hall.org) from Friday, May 26 through Monday, May 29. The exhibition will encompass paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptures by Society members, with a portion of all sales benefiting Ashawagh Hall. An Opening Reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres will be held on Friday, May 26 from 5 to 8 p.m., and the Art Show will be on display Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, May 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come Fly with Me, Guy Stanley Philoche’s newest series, will debut at Chase Edwards Gallery (2462 Main Street, Bridgehampton, www.chaseedwardsgallery.com) during an Opening Reception on Friday, May 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition will remain on view through Monday, June 26.
Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum (200 Main Street, Sag Harbor, www.sagharborwhalingmuseum.org) will host the Opening Reception for Anchor: A Whale of a Show on Friday, May 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. Curated by Dan Rizzie and Suzan Lazarus-Reiman, the exhibit pays tribute to Sag Harbor with art by Paul Davis, Jamie Ellis, Eric Fischl, April Gornik, Laurie Lambrecht, Susan Lazarus-Reimen, Lindsay Morris, Christine Morro, Jill Musnicki, Dan Rizzie, Reynold Ruffins, David Slater, Ned Smyth, Donald Sultan, John Torreano and Jodi Panas. Anchor: A Whale of a Show will remain on view through Thursday, June 22.
Magnificent Obsession, an exhibition that features a varied collection of artful Judith Leiber handbags that have been loaned by Kelly Ellman of Paradise Valley, Arizona; Susan Morrow of Montecito, California; and Saini Kannan of Irvine, California, will debut at the Leiber Collection (446 Old Stone Highway, Springs, www.leibercollection.org) during a gala opening on Saturday, May 27 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Boo-Hooray Summer Rental’s (805 Main Street, Montauk, www.boo-hooraysummerrental.com) inaugural exhibition, Vintage Surf Posters & Ephemera (1950’s – 1970’s), will debut on Friday, May 26, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 27 at 4 p.m.
An Opening Reception for Oliver Twist, Chapter 2: Dear Darren – Rental Gallery’s (87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, www.facebook.com) inaugural exhibition – will be held on Saturday, May 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. The group show, which features works by nearly 40 artists, premiered on Saturday, May 20 and will remain on view through Saturday, June 17.

Eileen Fisher (26 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, www.reputation-dynamics.com) will host a special Memorial Day weekend kick-off Elephant Art Showcase featuring the Elephant Art collection by Samantha Taylor of Reputation Dynamics on Saturday, May 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. 10 percent of sales proceeds will be donated to charities including The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and there will also be a raffle for a special gift from Eileen Fisher and Taylor.
Romany Kramoris Gallery (41 Main Street, Sag Harbor, kramorisgallery.com) is kicking off the summer season with Ready, Set, Go!, a group exhibition featuring the works of Christopher Engel, Kelly Nelson, Alan Nevins, Lynn Matsuoka, Isabel Pavão, and Ghilia Lipman-Wulf. The exhibit is on view from Thursday, May 25 through Thursday, June 15, with a reception for the artists on Saturday, May 27 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Ille Arts’ (171 Main Street, Amagansett, illearts.com) Out of the Box premiered on Thursday, May 18. An Opening Reception for the exhibition that highlights works from Deborah Buck and John Monti will take place on Saturday, May 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Out of the Box will remain on display through Tuesday, June 20.
Elizabeth Huey: And Yet It Moves, a new suite of paintings by Los Angeles based artist Elizabeth Huey, will premiere at Harper’s Books (87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, www.harpersbooks.com) during an Opening Reception on Saturday, May 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. The show will remain on view through Thursday, June 22.
An Opening Reception for Kenneth B Walsh: Montauk In The Seventies, a collection of paintings by Kenneth B Walsh from 1974 through 1977, will be held at The Woodbine Collection (649 Montauk Highway, Montauk, www.woodbinecollection.com) on Saturday, May 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.
