Iron Gate East, Southampton’s new innovative art exhibitor, will launch its first traveling pop-up exhibit series, Ghosts of the Inanimate, on Saturday, February 24 at The Spur, the inaugural private co-working space and innovation club for East End entrepreneurs, at Southampton Social Club from 5 to 7 p.m. Work by American artists Caleb Freese, Belgian-American artist Hedwig Brouckaert, and South Korean-American artist Jourdain Jongwon Lee will make an appearance. The exhibition marks the launch of a multi-series touring program and a commitment to bringing access to contemporary art programming to the East End.

“Iron Gate is proud to introduce a unique style of viewing art in the East End. By offering a traveling exhibition series, we hope to expose and Southampton community to diverse range of artists and artistic styles of art, design and creative expression,” said Kelcey Edwards, Iron Gate East founder.
Ghosts of the Inanimate is drawn from the otherworldliness of the selected art pieces, and the literal and indirect engagement of Freese, Brouckaert and Lee with the power of material objects to move through-and beyond-deaths of various kinds into the realm of abstractions and the ghosts of their past and future worlds.
“Together with The Spur – the first private co-working space and innovation club for entrepreneurs on the East End – Iron Gate East is presenting an artistic movement that will meaningfully change how art is accessed, appreciated and experienced in our communities and the public and private sectors, and the impact it can have on the next generation,” added Edwards.
The opening reception will include a Meet the Artists Chat at 5:30 p.m., music and refreshments. Private viewings of Ghosts of the Inanimate will be available by appointment through Sunday, March 25.
