The Artists Alliance of East Hampton’s (AAEH) first exhibit of 2019 is sure to be an inspiring one. Celebrating the organization’s 35th anniversary and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, AAEH members’ works will be featured in Walls of Dreams, a three-day exhibit to be held at Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton.
For the art show, AAEH decided upon a theme that would commemorate both Dr. King’s legacy and the organization’s community driven mission.
“AAEH is so thrilled to start our 35th year with an event that aligns so well with one of our core missions,” Anahi DeCanio of AAEH shared.
Pieces will reflect artists’ interpretation of a dream, and the event will also include a “wall” where attendees can reveal their own hopes for the future – whether it be on a personal level or more broader, global nature. The “wall of dreams” will boast the aspirations of local schools, businesses, places of worship and civic organizations.

“We are excited to organize an event that will not only support the arts but will also give the community a fun opportunity to get together, enjoy the work of our local artists and write their dreams on our interactive wall of dreams while sipping hot chocolate!” DeCanio added.
Walls of Dreams will open on Saturday, January 19 and remain on display through Monday, January 21. An opening reception, with refreshments from Bostwick’s Catering, will be held on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., AAEH will host a family friendly bagels and hot chocolate brunch featuring Goldberg’s Bagels and Levain Bakery. The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
10 percent of sales from Walls of Dreams will be donated to The Springs Food pantry.
Artists Alliance of East Hampton, a not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1984 as the Jimmy Ernst Artists Alliance by dear friends of Jimmy Ernst, the internationally acclaimed abstract painter, to carry on his vision of an artists’ community. AAEH’s mission is to bolster and champion the interests of the artists of the East End.
