“RJD Gallery is proud to present Shades of Light, our 11th annual Hamptons Juried Art Show to benefit The Retreat,” Joi Jackson Perle of RJD Gallery shared. “This exhibition received over 300 entries with the best 25 chosen for this show.”
The 2020 iteration will feature pieces from Anne-Marie Zanetti, Terry Strickland, Daniela Werneck, O’Neil Scott, Jackie Gordon, Christina Ramos, Tyler Streeter, Margaret Minardi, David Hummer, Linda Harris Reynolds, Tony Armendariz, Marybeth Rothman, Marianna Foster, Deborah Acquino, Claudia Kaak, Jennifer Hartzler, Noelle Giddings, Alan Richards, Melissa Hefferlin, Matthew Sprung, JuliAnne Jonker, and Andrea Vargas.
A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition, which “reveals the illumination within each of us, shining for all to see,” will support The Retreat, the East End’s sole domestic violence agency. Established in 1987, The Retreat provides a safe haven for families in crisis. The non-profit has assisted over 6,000 individuals since its founding. Services offered include a 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and emergency shelter. In 2017 alone, The Retreat reached 5,702 students with prevention education and responded to 3,467 hotline calls.
“The Hamptons Juried Art Show is always an event to experience and share, but especially so this year,” Loretta Davis, The Retreat Executive Director, shared. “Shades of Light features art that is beautiful, moving, and inspirational. The RJD Gallery has created a fantastic virtual show that allows all of us to connect to the art at a time when we really need it. We have so many talented artists participating, discover them for yourself!
“We are always inspired by the incredible work that The Retreat does, to help women and children in crisis from domestic violence, a subject that often remains silent and in the shadows,” Jackson Perle explained. “The artwork in Shades of Light encourages us to embrace the light within ourselves, and let it shine for all to see.”
Hamptons Juried Art Show: Shades of Light will be on display through Sunday, May 17.
