Music for Montauk (M4M) is celebrating the season of change by presenting a Fall Fantasie Concert on Saturday, November 14th at 5 p.m. “The Fall Fantasie Concert is conceived as an autumn journey,” shared Miloš Repicky, who is M4M’s co-artistic director, along with his wife Lilah Gosman. “The music is evocative of the fall colors and ephemerality of the changing seasons. The journey is one of imagination, emotion and spirit.”
The community based non-profit held its inaugural Summer Series this year to rave reviews. “The Fall Fantasie builds on the celebrated return of Music for Montauk with their Spring Concert and enormous success with their Summer Series, which included outdoor concerts at Montauk County Park,” shared Repicky, “which have been a wonderful journey so far with Music for Montauk.”
The evening will showcase the talents of Chloe Kiffer, violin; Ani Kalayjian, cello; and Benedicte Jourdois and Milos Repicky, piano. “We’ve added three charismatic instrumentalists to our collaborative of top-tier musicians,” he explained. “With the concert set-up we bring the audience close to the performers so they can really experience dynamism and energy of the ensemble music making.”
Gosman and Repicky wanted the performance to kickoff with a bang. “Bartok’s Rumanian Folk Dances opens the program with sounds of Gypsy fiddle and exotic harmonic effects,” said Repicky. “The idea is to transport the audience and engage their imagination right from the start.” The duo picked Franz Schubert Fantasie in F minor, D 940 for Piano, Four-Hands for its musical synergy. “Schubert’s Fantasie in F minor for Piano, four-hands begins with a beautifully simple melody that transforms throughout the piece, building to a thrilling climax,” noted Repicky.

The concert will also feature Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Trio Opus 70, No. 1 “Ghost.” “When it was written, Beethoven’s “Ghost” trio changed the game of what a piano trio sounds like. It begins dynamically, as if in the middle of an argument,” explained Repicky. “The piece gets its nickname from the eerie sounding middle movement. It’s like an encounter with your dark unconscious in a dream, which illuminates and emboldens your waking actions. The piece ends with humor and life-affirming energy.”
After an incredibly successful 2015 season, M4M is excited to see what the future brings. “We have received overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the community and look forward to continuing to grow the program in 2016,” said Repicky. “Third House was an overwhelming success, with fantastic weather and outstanding acoustics in the tent.” Repicky and Gosman were overjoyed with this year’s concert attendance. “It was really thrilling to see the turn out,” shared Repicky. “It felt like we were really sharing something special with the audience, something new that has a lot of potential.”
The Fall Fantasie Concert will take place at the Montauk School Auditorium. Admission is free.
