Multi-Talented Artist Laurie Anderson To Play Inaugural LongHouse Reserve Concert For Dogs

World-renowned avant-garde artist, composer, musician, and film director, Laurie Anderson, will perform the inaugural Concert for Dogs at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton this summer. On Saturday, August 13th, you can bring your beloved pups to the beautiful 16-acre LongHouse grounds for a spectacular evening of music, puppies, memories and more at the not-for-profit art garden, museum, and educational organization’s amphitheater.

The idea for Concert for Dogs stems from a conversation eight years ago between Anderson and cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the Rhode Island School of Design. After Anderson expressed her thought, Ma remarked, “Are you kidding? I have the same fantasy!”

Since then, Anderson has performed for dogs in Sydney, Australia and New York City’s Times Square. This show has received rave reviews and Anderson is ecstatic to bring it to LongHouse. Cellist Rubin Kodheli will join Anderson on stage for the Hamptons performance. Not only will the dogs enjoy the show, but also their loyal owners and companions.

A part of this show’s proceeds will benefit the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF), one of the most well renowned animal rescue centers in the area. The ARF mobile van will also make an appearance at Concert for Dogs.

After the concert, there will be a reception in the gardens. Dogs can play on the grounds while their owners enjoy refreshments. This will be the first time that dogs have been allowed on the grounds of LongHouse.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. for Concert for the Dogs at LongHouse, and the concert will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Amphitheater. Concert tickets are valid for one person and one dog. Tickets range from $100 to $500.

Anderson is a person of many talents. Her critically acclaimed documentary, Heart of a Dog, will be screened at Guild Hall (158 Main Street, East Hampton) on Thursday, August 11th. The documentary serves as a love-letter to her late husband, Loud Reed, and their rat terrier, Lolabella. Heart of a Dog was nominated for an Academy Award in 2016.
