Choral Society Of The Hamptons Celebrating The Arrival Of Spring With “Across The Centuries”

With the coming of spring, The Choral Society of the Hamptons is excited to showcase music spanning over 300 years on Sunday, March 26 at 5 p.m. Taking place at the East Hampton Presbyterian Church (120 Main Street, East Hampton), Across the Centuries will highlight compositions from acclaimed musicians such as Pergolesi, Georg Philipp Telemann, Roger Ducasse and Kodály. Guest conductor Walter Klauss will run the show and singers will be joined by Emelia Donato, soprano, Thomas Bohlert, organist, and the strings of the South Fork Chamber Ensemble.

Donato, who is based in New York City, is just 22-years-old. Although young, she has already had incredible experiences at places such as Manhattan’s Carnegie Hall, with the American Symphony Orchestra, and at Alice Tully Hall. She has even toured Italy with soloist Musica Viva, as they performed Monteverdi’s Lamento della Ninfa. Donato studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music and has spent many summers singing and performing at different institutes.

Joining Donato is accomplished organist Thomas Bohlert who brings years of experience. He recently retired from his position as the Director of Music of the East Hampton Presbyterian Church, and was also the founder and director of the Music at the Old Town Church series. This coming April he will perform with in Scorca Hall in New York.

It will no doubt be a lovely experience to hear music spanning such a great period of time with these two accomplished guests.

Immediately following the show, a benefit cocktail reception will be held at The Palm at The Huntting Inn (94 Main Street, East Hampton). A full array of hors d’oeuvres and wines, provided by Channing Daughters Winery, will be served.

Admission to Across the Centuries is $30 ($35 at the door). Tickets to the benefit cocktail reception are $100.
