G.E. Smith To Join Cracked Actor During The Velvet Underground And Lou Reed Tribute Concert

Amagansett-based tribute band Cracked Actor is set to transform the Stephen Talkhouse into their adaptation of the “psychedelic Exploding Plastic Inevitable” during an unparalleled concert that pays homage to The Velvet Underground and their primary songwriter Lou Reed. The band – Jack Marshall, Kevin Foran, Anthony Genovesi, and Carlos Lama – will be joined by guitarist G.E. Smith during the spectacular on Saturday, January 13.

“This Talkhouse show is hopefully going to be more like a ’60s ‘happening’ à la Andy Warhol’s Plastic Exploding Inevitable, a series of light and sound shows that the Velvets played early in their career,” Lama said.

Cracked Actor, who finds inspiration from David Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Stooges, Mott the Hoople, The Velvet Underground, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and more, are breaking their extended hiatus with this unmissable set.

“We’re super excited to be playing the music of The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed,” shared Lama. “This is a natural extension of Cracked Actor performing the music of David Bowie, since the Velvets influenced him immensely, and because Bowie produced Lou’s second solo album Transformer.”

The audience can expect an impressive array of songs from one of the most influential bands in rock, which was formed by Reed in 1964. The evening will also include some of Reed’s earlier solo stuff.

“We’re equally thrilled to have guitarist G.E. Smith performing with us, as he’s been a huge fan of the Velvet Underground since their inception,” Lama shared. “In fact, as a kid he used to listen to the band – outside on the street – as they would rehearse at the legendary Village club The Dom.”

To really help set the tone, attendees are encouraged to come as their favorite Warhol Superstar, Chelsea Girl, or Factory Regular.

Admission to the concert is $10.
