Nancy Atlas Live Streaming Concert This Weekend

If you could use a dose of live music while social distancing, you’ll want to tune in to a special live streaming performance from legendary East End musician Nancy Atlas.

“So we did a live stream on St. Pats and it was beyond fun. Bad dancing, green seltzer and some stories mixed with acoustic tunes,” Atlas explained on her Facebook page. “I can’t believe how badly I needed to be with you all. It was an eye opener and I felt much better after it.”

Atlas’ “Mexican Fiesta Online Acoustic Show” will take place virtually on Saturday, March 21 at 8 p.m.

“We all came together, I played some acoustic tunes and we connected,” the musician said about the St. Patrick’s Day show.

The last concert aired on Instagram, but for this one, she is giving Youtube a go. Her page is www.youtube.com/natlas27. “I’m learning as I go, but this is what I can give back right now. FREE,” she relayed. “Here is the deal: You cook Mexican food at home (nachos, tacos, empanadas… take out from @coche_comedor ? not sure if they are doing that) and I will supply some LIVE streamed acoustic music, drink a well needed margarita, talk, dance badly and give us all a head break.”

Atlas is even taking requests on her Facebook page (www.facebook.com/nancyatlasproject/) for the gig. “Want a specific song? REQUEST BELOW so I have a day to review and I will do my best to play it but no guarantee,” she relayed.

So, if you want to hear some great music and forget about your troubles for a bit, tune in. “We are in this together folks. Only bummer with YouTube is that you have to subscribe ahead of time (once again… www.youtube.com/natlas27 is the page),” she noted. “Subscribe and then you can stream it I believe.”

The musician, who “grew up with gypsy blood in Commack”, has been a fixture on the East End music scene along with her band, The Nancy Atlas Project – which includes Johnny Blood, Brett King, Neal Surreal and Richard Rosch, for many, many years. They’ve opened for or followed several notable names, including Bon Jovi, Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, The Roots, Suzanne Vega, Lucinda Williams, Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Buffett, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and many, many more.

She eventually settled in Montauk, where she lives with her husband Thomas, her two sons Cash and Levon and her daughter Tallulah.

“If it’s glitchy, have mercy on me. I’m doing the best I can,” Atlas concluded.
