Parrish Art Museum Receives $76,000 Grant For Upcoming Andreas Gursky Exhibition

The New York State Council of the Arts is presenting the Parrish Art Museum with a $76,000 grant for its upcoming exhibition, Andreas Gursky: Nature in Balance. The grant, which was funded by the New York Regional Economic Development Councils, is intended to promote tourism and encourage as well as support participation in the arts and other cultural projects.

“The exhibition will be presented in the context of the Parrish’s architecturally significant building designed by Herzog & de Meuron—the same architects who designed his studio in Dusseldorf—and the Museum’s important collection of American landscape painting and photographs,” Parrish Art Museum Director Terrie Sultan said. “It will reinforce the East End as a destination for culture and natural beauty past and present.”

This exhibition will bring Gursky and his work to the East End for the first time, allowing locals to view the work of a master of the Dusseldorf School, who played a large role in defining 1990s contemporary art in Germany. Andreas Gursky: Nature in Balance showcases Gursky’s highly detailed photographs of landscapes, water and architecture. The exhibit will be on display at the Parrish from Sunday, August 2nd through Sunday, October 18th.
