East End-Based Performing Arts Center Presenting Summer Edition Of Finest In World Cinema Series

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC), in collaboration with Andrew Botsford, is once again presenting its Summer Cinema Series. Throughout the season, every Tuesday, WHBPAC will host a special screening, Tuesday Night at the Movies, with Botsford, where attendees will watch films and participate in discussions with film experts following the showings. The movies will also be shown on Wednesday and Thursday, with screenings beginning at 7 p.m.

Andrew Botsford is an actor with the Hampton Theatre Company of Quogue, as well as a professor and communications consultant for the Graduate Arts program at Stony Brook in Southampton, Editor-At-Large for Hamptonarthub.com, Associate Editor of the Southampton Press, and co-host of the Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival. The established thespian and special guest commentators will provide an insider’s take on the featured films and offer an explanation on what makes WHBPAC’s Finest in World Cinema Series so unique.

From Tuesday, July 12th through Thursday, July 14th, enjoy My Love, Don’t Cross That River. The Jin Moyoung film follows “100 – year old Lovebirds” Byong-man Jo and Gye-Yeul Kang and tells “an unforgettable story of true love that transcends both generations and cultures.”

Next up is Stéphane Brizé’s The Measure of a Man, screening Tuesday, July 19th through Thursday, July 21st. When an out of work everyman is forced to commit a series of “quietly humiliating ordeals,” it results in him loosing his identity and self-respect. Eventually the leading man finds a job, but will one final dilemma push him over the edge?

The final July screening is Terence Davies’ Sunset Song, which can be seen Tuesday, July 26th through Thursday, July 28th. This touching film is set in a rural community in the early years of the twentieth century. It revolves around a young heroine, Chris, and her exception joie de vivre, for the uneasy Ewan and for the hostile land.
