The Surfrider Foundation Eastern Long Island Chapter is presenting an evening of captivating surf films in support of the Chapter’s clean water and healthy beaches programs. Andy Brosnan, chair of The Eastern Long Island Chapter, will host Surf Movie Night XVI – with Ben Gulliver’s The Seawolf as the main feature film. The Surf Movie Night will be held at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Wednesday, August 1.
“Surf Movie Night is a great opportunity for members of the community to come out and enjoy a night with fellow ocean-lovers,” Colleen Henn, Eastern Long Island Surfrider Chapter Coordinator, noted.
The Seawolf, which was created and directed by Gulliver, documents Balaram Stack, Chippa Wilson, Noah Cohen, Oliver Kurtz, Cam Richards, Noah Wegrich, Josh Mulcoy, and Pete Devries as they embark on a two-year quest in search of secluded, frigid waves.
“We wanted to make a cold water feature surf film that was more about surfing than the adventure of exploring in the cold,” Gulliver said about The Seawolf.
Surf Movie Night XVI will also include a series of local surf shorts.

In addition to the viewings, attendees can also learn more about the Chapter’s programs and initiatives. There will also be a raffle and silent auction.
The Surfrider Foundation, a grass roots organization, is committed to protecting the world’s oceans and beaches. Its Eastern Long Island Chapter safeguards the shoreline from Montauk Point to Moriches Inlet. Each chapter – there are 81 in total – collaborates with the local government to address important issues regarding the coast. Surfrider organizes beach clean ups, presents educational offerings, and is also responsible for the East End’s Strawless Summer initiative.
Admission to Surf Movie Night XVI is $20 for adults and $5 for children 18-years-old and under. The programming will start at 7 p.m.
“All proceeds allow Surfrider’s Eastern Long Island Chapter to continue our work within the community, protecting our coastlines from pollution, overdevelopment, and beach access issues,” Henn added.
