Hampton Ballet Theatre School To Bring Beloved Tchaikovsky Ballet To The Stage

Did I just hear jingle bells? Yes, it’s that time of year again!

While some may still be mourning the passing of Labor Day, others are (and should be!) excited for the coming festivities of the winter season! With some of the most delicious – albeit indulgent – food of the whole year, get-togethers full of family and friends, and good-old American football, how could you not love this time of year?

The Hampton Ballet Theatre School (HBTS) is once again helping us celebrate the holidays with a seasonal classic, The Nutcracker. This is the eighth year the school is presenting Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet.

The production features an incredibly talented group of individuals who will perform a universally-loved and timeless Christmas story. Choreographer and director of HBTS, Sara Jo Strickland, has worked closely with dancers Adam and Gail Baranello (Arabian Prince and Princess), Abigail and Catlin Hubbell (Dew Drop Princess and Snow Queen), Rose Kelly (Sugar Plum fairy), Nick Peregrino (Cavalier), and Timothy Sloan (Snow King), as well as HBTS students, of course. Yuka Silvera has designed and hand sewn the costumes for the show and Sebastian Paczynski designed the lighting.

“This year will be our eighth Nutcracker and it will be a very special one,” noted Strickland. “I have six seniors that have grown up dancing with HBTS and are very accomplished dancers. This will be their last Nutcracker!! We are so proud of these young ladies and gentleman, it will be bittersweet for all of us at HBTS.”

One may be under a lot of pressure when performing such a beloved and known story, yet Hampton Bays Theatre School has never failed to enchant the audience, often exceeding expectations. An experience for all ages, this is not a holiday show to miss!

Performances will take place at Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater on Friday, December 9th at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 10th at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 11th at 2 p.m. Advanced ticket sales are $20 for children (under 12 years of age) and $25 for adults for general orchestra seating. Day of performance tickets sales are $25 for children (under 12 years of age) and $30 for adults for regular orchestra seating. Premium orchestra, box seats, balcony and group rates are also available.
