Guild Hall is rethinking their summer season in lieu of the global pandemic with a new, redesigned format of events as they approach their 90th year. This year will feature both online and in-person events through safe and welcoming new platforms. Guild Hall has chosen to focus on collaborating and investing in local and regional artists to help restart the artistic economy of the East End.
A new exhibition entitled “All for the Hall” will replace the annual Guild Hall benefit. This exhibition will raise funds for the institution’s Restart Fund and was set in motion by renowned American artist and recent community member, Robert Longo. All works in the exhibition have been donated by celebrated artists and can be purchased with proceeds going to Guild Hall. Furthermore, Guild Hall has postponed its planned Summer Exhibitions for 2020 to 2021 and 2022.
Guild Hall will present a must-see line up of dazzling performances, exhibitions and art education all while adhering to health and safety guidelines. Community members can look forward to performances with smaller audiences, utilization of Guild Hall’s gardens and grounds for presentation spaces, and programs taking place “en plein air.” This summer will certainly be a different season, but Guild Hall in transforming their programs for the better!
“As an interdisciplinary arts organization supported by a local community of boundless creativity, we are perfectly placed to reinvent and redesign artistic experiences of all kinds,” remarked Andrea Grover, Executive Director of Guild Hall. “I am truly excited about the outdoor acoustic music, intimate theatrical performances, and temporary art installations and video projections that we are planning. I’ve no doubt this will be one of our most innovative seasons yet, as we approach 90 years of providing joy and relief through the arts.”
