For the second consecutive weekend, former United States Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, stopped by a Hamptons bookstore to promote her newest memoir, “Hard Choices.” After hosting a book signing at East Hampton’s BookHampton storefront last week, Clinton came to Westhampton’s Books & Books boutique on Sunday, August 24, 2014.
Clinton’s book, “Hard Choices,” outlines her experiences within the Barack Obama administration, including how she dealt with various foreign policy situations and with disagreements within the cabinet. “All of us face hard choices in our lives,” Clinton wrote in the book. “Life is about making such choices. Our choices and how we handle them shape the people we become.”
Her highly anticipated appearance attracted swarms of supporters, both young and old, who lined the town’s streets hours before the 2 p.m. start time. In addition to nearly 1,000 people attending the event, Main Street was crowded with dozens of United States Secret Service members and Westhampton Beach Police Officers securing the Books & Books building and monitoring Clinton and her entourage.

After the signing some attendees dished that the event was extremely rushed and impersonal, but said that, if given the opportunity, they would gladly attend again. One Fordham University student who attended said, “I did it for the chance to shake Clinton’s hand. And, if she may be the next President, then it’s all worth it.”
Books & Books is located at 130 Main Street in Westhampton Beach.
