Renée Fleming, Governor and Mrs. George Pataki and Ambassador and Mrs. Donald Blinken served as honorary chairs of The Friends of the Budapest Festival Orchestra at their annual gala at Carnegie Hall. Maestro Iván Fischer and his longtime friend, chairman emeritus, Daisy Soros and chairman Stephen Benko remain guiding lights of the Orchestra. Such special programs as performing in abandoned European synagogues, creating special nights for autistic children and outreach to bring younger generations into the fold mark Fischer as a social innovator as well as a world recognized conductor. The evening’s co-chairs were Sylvia Hemingway, Heidi-Lee-Komaromi, Christine Schott Ledes, Laine Siklos, and Stephanie Stokes. The Budapest Festival Orchestra will return to New York August 4th for the Mostly Mozart Festival. Friends will be invited to the annual private Hamptons Summer Chamber Concert, to enjoy a brief concert under the summer sky.
