The Reform Club, located at 23 Windmill Lane in Amagansett, is the ultimate boutique hotel experience in the Hamptons. It is situated on five acres of land with scenic garden views, creating an unparalleled feel of seclusion and relaxation while still being within a close distance to Main Street.
This inn has much to offer in terms of luxury and leisure, wellness and mindfulness, an art collection, immersion in nature, and is ultimately the perfect escape for Hamptons visitors. As they welcome the 2023 summer season, The Reform Club is excited to share what sets their space apart for those on the East End looking for accommodations. General Manager Sam Fox started at The Reform Club in Amagansett at the beginning of this year, and spoke more about what the club has to offer, why they are unique to the area, and what visitors can expect when they choose them for their stay.
What is The Reform Club all about?
SF: The Reform Club feels like a well-manicured family estate rather than a hotel: boasting seven suites and three cottages that dot the grounds and for larger groups, a private four-bedroom home, called 21 House. The property’s mission is to provide an environment that creates the ability to reflect, relax, meditate, and ultimately challenge oneself to undergo some level of personal and private reform.
Can you talk about the history and evolution of The Reform Club?
SF: The Reform Club formerly known as The Inn at Windmill Lane has been around since 2009. It is a best kept secret on the East End of Long Island, which has created a strong group of return guests who continue to come back for the privacy and seclusion of the accommodations and the grounds. We’ve had a couple refreshes and renovations over the years, always focused on a pristine accommodation in our suites and cottages.
What sets it apart from other hotels and accommodations in the area?
SF: Luxury Leisure: The place to be for travelers seeking accessible yet top of the line accommodations in timeless destinations as the property offers a dedicated concierge offering insight and arrangements for the best restaurants, shops, and things to do in the area.
Privacy in the Destination: Spread out across five acres of idyllic gardens, the inn offers the appeal of seclusion while still being centrally located and within walking distance to the shops and cafes on Main Street and a quick bicycle ride to the beach.

Quite the Collection: Eye catching pieces dazzle from room to room including a mix of contemporary artwork, oil paintings, photography, sculpture, and abstract works, thoughtfully selected from the likes of MoMA recognized artist Dan Rizzie, British artist Humphrey Ocean, and Judiet Reigl. Not to miss, the hotel’s logo is a symbol of a tree, as they reference change while standing in stillness.
Mindful Wellness: Wellness is top of mind on property allowing guests to continue their routines at ease with a curated spa menu offering in-room treatments, complimentary bikes, and accessible gym.
Can you discuss the property and design of the hotel?
SF: All guestrooms are white and airy yet welcoming year-round, while spread-out privacy does not come at the expense of location. Reform Club is mere minutes from Amagansett town. Guests can expect a stellar art collection adorning the walls, complimentary beach cruisers, in-room spa appointments, and a dedicated concierge offering insight and arrangements for the best restaurants, shops, and things to do in the area. Not to miss, the property is complete with four distinct, communal outdoor spaces for guests to enjoy, entertain and make themselves at home including: The Orchard, The Park, The Sunken Garden, and The Tea House.
How did you get started in this business?
SF: I started in the hotel industry at the Gramercy Park Hotel working my way up from union front desk agent working overnight relief to a front office manager learning to work at an iconic luxury property accommodating an upper echelon of guests. I then moved to upstate New York, to run The DeBruce, a destination luxury lodge with a tasting menu restaurant which highlighted a passion for me in independent small luxury hotels, which brought me to The Reform Club, a great example of luxury hospitality distilled down to its most essential elements.
What are you most excited about for the summer season?
SF: Really diving into the market here and connecting with other businesses in the community, especially other people in hospitality and creating strong connections with business owners and the citizens of Amagansett. We want the Reform Club to be a gem of the community that is seen as an amenity for people in the town to recommend to friends and family when they come to visit or for a staycation for those who do live or have houses in the area.
Can you talk a bit about the accommodations and amenities offered at The Reform Club?
SF: Luxury accommodations available include seven suites, three cottages, and one private four-bedroom home, called 21 House. Amenities include, but are not limited to, outdoor fire pits, continental breakfast, in-room spa treatments, 24-hour gym, complimentary bikes, pet-friendly and kid-friendly cottages, and wood burning fireplaces.
Can you tell us about the collection of artwork and how it is woven into the hotel?
SF: The Reform Club is home to a stunning collection of contemporary artwork, oil paintings, photography, sculpture, and abstract works. Each cottage and suite contain its own original masterpieces, creating an individual ambiance that harmoniously co-exists with unique architectural elements and nature. Every element of the property was thoughtfully curated—from imported Michelangelo marble, hand-cut tiles, to original contemporary works of art. The most skilled artisans from far-reaches of the globe assisted in the design, from MoMA recognized artist Dan Rizzie, British artist Humphrey Ocean, to Judiet Reigl, to bring the finest details of luxury and craftsmanship to Amagansett.
Does The Reform Club have any upcoming events you’re excited about?
SF: We’re excited to focus on creating perfect hotel stays for our guests this summer. We’re working on bringing to life some guest experiences and on-site events for the hotel later this summer and into the fall, so stay tuned for more.
What’s the biggest factor that contributes to The Reform Club’s success?
SF: The pristine room product, sense of privacy, and immaculate gardens and grounds, plus our a la carte approach to concierge service and wellness. We’ll do anything we can to arrange special experiences for our guests.
What’s your favorite pastime in the Hamptons?
SF: Trying out all the amazing restaurants we have in the area such as Il Buco Al Mare and Doubles, and going over to the bay for sunsets.
What do you love most about the clientele on the East End?
SF: People here have an incredibly strong sense of what they want. If we can successfully surpass expectations for these most discerning customers, we know that we are doing something great.
