Discover The Moth Storytelling Workshops
For those unfamiliar, The Moth is a cultural icon known for its captivating storytelling events that have enthralled audiences for over two decades. With a rich archive of stories broadcasted on the radio, The Moth celebrates the art of storytelling by featuring real people sharing real stories. These stories range from humorous anecdotes to poignant life experiences, all told with a raw authenticity that resonates deeply with listeners.
What is MothWorks?
MothWorks is a unique extension of The Moth’s philosophy, designed to help individuals craft and share their own stories in a compelling manner. Think of it as a blend of TED Talks and personal narratives, where each tale is meticulously crafted to capture the essence of human experience. The workshops provide participants with the tools and confidence to turn their personal anecdotes into stories that can move and inspire audiences.
An Evening with Bonnie Levison
Canoe Place is thrilled to have Bonnie Levison, a distinguished storyteller and coach, lead their inaugural MothWorks event. Bonnie’s impressive resume includes The Moth Mainstage, the Story Barn in Connecticut, and the Nantucket Comedy Festival. Her ability to connect with people and draw out their most engaging stories makes her the perfect guide for this storytelling journey.
During the event, Bonnie will coach three local residents to tell their five-minute stories, guiding them through every twist and turn to ensure an exciting conclusion. This is a wonderful opportunity to witness storytelling magic up close, learn about the process, and perhaps even find the inspiration to share your own stories.
Sarah Doud, one of the speakers, shared, “I’m speaking about the moment of truth I had with myself – the moment I decided to shape what I wanted my life to really look like. It was an honor to have been chosen to participate. The story I will share has two chapters: my ten-year journey covering hard news as an award-winning news reporter up and down the East Coast, and returning to the Hamptons, where I’ve been able to build continued success and a beautiful family in my hometown.”
Join Us for a Night to Remember
This event is not just a one-time affair; it’s the first of what we hope will be an ongoing series of storytelling evenings at Canoe Place. We invite you to come, listen, and immerse yourself in the power of storytelling. Suggest your own stories and sign up to participate in future events. This promises to be a magical launch for a unique Front Row experience.
Don’t miss this chance to be part of a community event that celebrates the richness of human experience through the timeless art of storytelling. We look forward to seeing you there!
