Village Bistro is one of the new restaurants gracing East Hampton’s iconic Main Street. It is in the secluded location formerly occupied by Rowdy Hall. The front of the restaurant features romantic hanging string lights, metal bistro-style tables, and a black facade. It may look familiar, but the menu explores uncharted territory.

The inside of the restaurant is cozy and warm, striking the perfect balance between elegance and casual comfort. Walking in, you see a bar on the left side with stunning brass lighting fixtures—ideal for grabbing a drink with friends or family. The beer tap features local favorite Colossal Squid Double IPA from Kidd Squid in Sag Harbor. If you are in the mood for a cocktail, they have a Classic Jalapeño Rita, French Tart, or my favorite, a Grand, featuring Grand Marnier, lemon juice, Henri Dubois, and champagne. Salute!
The menu carries bistro classics like French Onion Soup and a Village Burger, but I ordered something more exotic: escargot roasted with garlic parsley butter, served with a lemon and baguette. No need to fly to France! You can try escargot right here in the Hamptons! I’ve become a huge fan and highly recommend it.

The herb-roasted chicken was soft, juicy, and crispy all at once. The skin was perfectly roasted and had that ideal crispiness. The chicken was well-seasoned and was the dish’s highlight, accompanied by whipped potatoes, bacon lardon, and mushrooms. Perfection!
We were full, but when our attentive waiter, Carlos, came to give us the dessert menu, we quickly replied, “The Seasonal Pot de Crème, please.” He smiled and said, “Excellent choice.” A beautiful chocolate cup filled with mixed berry cream arrived quickly at our table. It looked too pretty to eat, but alas, we cracked the cup, and it was the perfect sweet ending to a great dinner date. The semi-sweet chocolate paired perfectly with the slight bitterness of the berry cream. A match made in heaven.
Village Bistro may be new to East Hampton, but it’s a hit. It’s the perfect place for locals and vacationers to grab a quick drink, lunch, or dinner. I recommend you make a reservation to secure your spot during the busy summer season.
