In her debut column for Spotlight, the renowned jewelry designer and style maven shares what she’ll be wearing around town this summer.
As the founder of Jennifer Creel Jewelry, I’ve always been keen on fashion and love to express myself creatively. I never stop working, and I’m always traveling, finding inspiration wherever I go. And without a doubt, the Hamptons supplies it.
When temperatures rise in New York City, nothing brings me more pleasure than leaving the concrete jungle for Southampton. Life here is slower, the colors softer, and the beach always welcoming.
My city wardrobe is replaced with a Boho chic aesthetic, where the fashion is flowy, easy, and not flashy, but rather made for walking on the beach, clam bakes with friends, bike rides, and endless dinner parties.

MY MORNING LOOK
At the start of the day, I typically throw on my Thom Browne shirt dress and sandals to grab coffee with a friend at Sant Ambroeus, with my dog, Pepper, cozy in my wicker bag. I may spend a Saturday morning strolling through the Hampton Flea Market, where I scour the selection for accessories and knick-knacks, or visit the Parrish Art Museum or the Peter Marino Art Foundation.
LUNCHTIME CHIC
Once it hits midday, I’ll throw on one of my favorite sundresses from Carolina Herrera or Johanna Ortiz. I love to sport a red and white color palette or a polka dot dress. I’m typically in low sandals and a straw hat, and I carry a straw bag equipped with sunscreen, water, and a light bolero sweater from Adam Lippes. I often wear my own pendants on what I call a Liberty Cord, which is a floral cotton jewelry cord that’s perfect for the summer.
AFTERNOON STROLL IN STYLE
Later in the day, I’ll pop into AERIN, which is great for both adorning yourself and your home. It has a gorgeous assortment of bathing suits, dresses, and fabulous home goods, and I can easily pick up a hostess gift for any evening dinner parties. Boutique shopping continues with Veronica Beard, my go-to spot for a great pair of jeans (no small feat), then off to Ralph Lauren and TENET.
EVENING ATTIRE
For dinner or garden parties, I like to wear floral dresses with a low-heeled strap sandal with a Loro Piana wrap. For a more formal event, I’ll opt for a summer evening Oscar de la Renta dress with a wedged heel. I try to be somewhat whimsical in my fashion choices, though I never leave home without a bolero sweater or wrap as the evenings in Southampton can get chilly.
