Andrina Wekontash Smith will be featured in The Watermill Center’s first Viewpoints of the year. The Watermill Alum, who was born and raised in Southampton, took part in a residency at Watermill from October 30, 2019 through November 26, 2019.
The Shinnecock writer, actor and performer has dedicated her career to the varied aspects of the human condition. Currently she serves as a house team writer/performer at the PIT in NYC where she is a member of the sketch team Like Butter. Her solo work has been highlighted in festivals throughout NYC, and the Tri-State area, and she has also showcased her works locally at Bay Street in Sag Harbor, Guild Hall in East Hampton, and the Ross School in East Hampton where she spearheaded a successful summer theatre program.
Her Viewpoints discussion will cover her most recent work – an in-depth examination of Long Island’s rarely discussed history and how that history influences her work, which she focused on during her time at Watermill.
Viewpoints, The Watermill Center’s year-round conversation series that delves into creative topics essential to the contemporary moment, is presented in both the Hamptons and New York City. Additional speakers will include Michael Daly on Wednesday, January 15, Dorothy Reilly and Drawdown East End on Wednesday, January 22 and Carl Lawrence on Wednesday, January 29.
Admission is free.
