Every time I drive by I’m always impressed by how many people go so I decided to check it out. The hockey rink in Southampton is epic, alive, and extremely exciting. It’s a great place for kids to learn the sport of hockey and also a great place for people who used to play hockey to get back into the game.
In the Hamptons, there are two places where you can play hockey. The first place is the Buckskill Winter club in East Hampton. This is a very popular ice rink but it is also a place that Ed Gaetjens, a local real estate broker at Saunders & Associates, coaches kids to play the great sport of hockey. Ed has played competitive hockey since he was ten years old. “It’s a great sport, and it’s great that we have so much access to it in the Hamptons. A lot of parents are signing up their kids to play and a lot of organized games are taking place. There are a lot of adult leagues that are playing now it’s a lot of fun.
Kids from four years old to 70 years old are playing hockey in the Hamptons. Full contact play starts at 13 and up.
The rink also offers skating lessons for those that have never been on the ice or who want to get better as well as public skating for those who just want the fun of gliding across the ice.
You can keep up with the Southampton ice rink by following their Instagram page which is @Southamptonicerink. The Instagram page keeps followers updated on exciting events such as the South Hampton ice rink adult men’s team playing the Suffolk County Police Department team.
If you’re interested in something to do this weekend ice-skating in the Hamptons really is a great activity and it is completely affordable. During the weekend public sessions for adults and children are just $20 and during the weekday adults are $15 and children is $12 you can rent hockey skates and figure skates for five dollars.
